  • Sunil Manohar “Sunny” Gavaskar (born 10 July 1949) is a former cricketer who played during the 1970s and 1980s for Bombay and India. Widely regarded as one of the greatest opening batsmen in cricket history, Gavaskar set world records during his career for the most Test runs and most Test centuries scored by any batsman.
  • Alok Nath(born 10 July 1956) is an Indian film actor who appears in Bollywood movies. He is most notable for playing the role of Haveli Ram in Ramesh Sippy’s television series, Buniyaad. He was born in Mumbai, India and began acting as a child. However he did not take acting very seriously until he got his breaks. He was an employee of Kitply India from 1973 until 1995.
  • Rajnath Singh (born July 10, 1951) is a prominent Indian politician who has served the country in many capacities. Beginning his career as a physics lecturer, Singh used his long-term connections with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in order to become involved with the Janata Party. That involvement led him to numerous official positions within his home state of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Manjari Phadnis (born on 10 July 1984) is an Indian film actress, who has appeared in Hindi, Telugu, Bengali and Tamil language films. She is best known for her performance in the 2008 Hindi film Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. She is the brand ambassador for CMR exclusive and Chandana Brothers in Andhra Pradesh.

Death anniversaries on 10th July:

  • Rajesh Ranjan (1961/1962 – 10 July 2012), better known as Pappu Yadav, was an Indian politician. He won elections to the Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Parliament of India) in 1991, 1996, 1999, and in 2004 from several constituencies in Bihar as a Rashtriya Janata Dal RJD candidate.
  • Sir Ganga Ram KCSI (April 1851 – July 10, 1927) was an eminent civil engineer born in Mangtanwala, a small village of Punjab Province in British India now in Punjab, Pakistan and educated at the Thomason College of Civil Engineering (now known as the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee) 1873 batch. He was a leading philanthropist and agriculturist of his times.
  • Kushalnagar Krishnaswamy Srinivasan (20 March 1925 – 10 July 2009) known as K. K. Srinivasan was an Indian radar officer who founded a pre-school for deaf children. Madras Presidency College, Madras KKS – fondly called ‘Cakes’ by his close friends—had three colourful college years (1942–45), enrolled in the Physics (Honors) graduate programme of The Presidency College, Chennai.

    Notable Events:

  • 1909 – Gandhiji arrives in London with the assistance of Lord Ampthill and works ceaselessly to educate influential British leaders and the public, and also to move Imperial authorities.
  • 1924 – Johannes B van Heutsz, Governor General of Dutch Indies (1904-09), died at the age of 73.
  • 1927 – Ganga Ram, great social reformer and founder of Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, died in England while functioning as an active member of the Royal Commission on Agriculture. He was against dowry and child marriages and advocated widow re-marriage and also established institutions for vocational education and education for adults.
