Rahul Sharad Dravid  (born 11 January 1973) is a former Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian Test and One Day International teams. Dravid was honoured as one of the top-five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2000. Dravid was also awarded the ICC Player of the Year and the Test Player of the Year at the inaugural awards ceremony held in 2004.
Anju Mahendru (born 11 January 1946) is an Indian actress. Mahendru was born in Dehradun. She is famed for her relationship with famous Bollywood star Rajesh Khanna and was briefly engaged to cricket player Gary Sobers. Mahendru started modelling at the age of 13. She was discovered by poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi who recommended her to Basu Bhattacharya. Basu cast her in Uski Kahani in 1966.
Kiran Rathod is an Indian film actress. She has appeared in Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil films. Rathod was born on 11 January 1981 in Jaipur, Rajasthan into a Rajput family. She is a graduate of Mithibai College in Mumbai. She is the cousin of Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon. She first started appearing in Hindi pop song albums in late 1990s which caught the attention of Hindi movie producers.
Vivaan Shah is an Indian actor working in the Hindi film industry, who made his film debut with Saat Khoon Maaf (2011) to critical acclaim. Thereafter, he signed a three-film deal with director Vishal Bhardwaj, he also got the lead role in Vishal’s next film, Dreams, with Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, his role was initially to be done by Saif Ali Khan.
Mobashar Jawed “M.J.” Akbar (born 21 January 1951) is a leading Indian journalist and author. He has recently taken charge as Editorial Director of India Today, India’s leading weekly English news magazine published by the Living Media group. He has also been given the additional responsibility of overseeing the media conglomerate’s English news channel, Headlines Today.

Death Anniversaries on 11th of January

Lal Bahadur Shastri 2 October 1904 – 11 January 1966) was the second Prime Minister of the Republic of India and a significant figure in the Indian independence movement. Lal Bahadur was born in Mughal Sarai, United Provinces, India in a Kayastha family to Sharada Srivastava Prasad, a school teacher, who later became a clerk in the Revenue Office at Allahabad.
Michael Bates (4 December 1920 – 11 January 1978) was a British actor born in Jhansi, United Provinces, British India. Bates served as a Major serving with the Brigade of Gurkhas in Burma before his discharge at the end of World War II. In 1953, while an ensemble member with the Stratford Festival in Stratford Ontario, he appeared in Richard III and All’s Well That Ends Well.
Robert Kee CBE (born 5 October 1919) is a British broadcaster, journalist and writer, known for his historical works on World War II and Ireland. He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, and read history at Magdalen College, Oxford, where he was a pupil, then a friend of the historian A.J.P. Taylor. During World War II he served in the Royal Air Force as a bomber pilot.
Yashawant Dinkar Phadke  (January 3, 1931 – January 11, 2008) was a historian and a political activist from Maharashtra, India. He was born in Solapur. Phadke received a Bachelor’s deree from Pune University and a Master’s degree and doctorate in economics and political science from Mumbai University.
Veeramachineni Madhusudhan Rao (27 July 1917 – 11 January 2012) was a Telugu cinema director and script writer with many successful films such as Zamindar, Antastulu, Aradhana, and Krishnaveni. Rao died on 11 January 2012 at the age of 94.

Notable Event 

11-January-1966 Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indian Prime Minister (1964-66), passed away at Tashkent, U.S.S.R. at 1:32, age 61. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously.
11-January-1613  Emperor Jahangir in a proclamation permitted East India Company to establish factories in Surat. And the first British factory was established under Thomas Aldworth.
