Ashok Kumar 13 October 1911 – 10 December 2001) also fondly called Dadamoni in Bengali, was an Indian film actor. Born Kumudlal Ganguly in Bhagalpur, Bengal Presidency he attained iconic status in Indian cinema. The Government of India honoured him with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Bhushan in 1998 for his contributions to Indian cinema.

Dipali Goenka (born 13 October 1969) is an entrepreneur based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is the director of Welspun Retail Ltd. and is one of the promoters of the Welspun Group. She is a member of the Governing Body of FICCI FLO, the women’s wing of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce, and the chairperson of FLO – Mumbai Chapter.

Eruch Byramshaw Jessawala (October 13, 1916 – August 31, 2001), born in Bombay, India, was a close disciple of the silent Indian master Meher Baba, and one of his mandali. Jessawala was also the primary interpreter of Meher Baba’s alphabet board, and later his unique sign language. Jessawala was born in Bombay to Zoroastrian parents, Beheram and Gaimai Jessawala.

Shivinder Singh Sidhu (born October 13, 1929) is an Indian political figure. He is an IAS officer, 1952 class of the Uttar Pradesh state cadre. He served as the District Magistrate of Kanpur and subsequently as Commissioner of Agra Division. He was the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization from August 1988 to August 1991.

Chitti Babu (October 13, 1936 – February 9, 1996) was a renowned classical musician from India, and arguably one of the greatest Veena artistes, in the Carnatic Music genre of South India, who became a legend in his own lifetime. His name was synonymous with the musical instrument Veena, and he was and still is known in the Carnatic Music world, simply as Veena Chitti Babu.

Kishore Kumar (4 August 1929 – 13 October 1987), born Abhas Kumar Kanjilal Ganguly was an Indian film playback singer and an actor who also worked as lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenwriter and scriptwriter. Kishore Kumar sang in many Indian languages including Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam and Oriya.

Nirupa Roy (4 January 1931 – 13 October 2004) was an Indian actress who appeared in Hindi films. Roy was mostly known for portraying character roles of the Indian mother. She played leading roles in her early films and started playing mother roles during the 1970s–80s. Her acting career spanned more than 50 years, and she acted in more than 250 films.

L. M. Singhvi  (November 9, 1931 – October 6, 2007) was a, Indian jurist, parliamentarian, constitutional expert, scholar, distinguished diplomat. He was the longest-serving High Commissioner for India in the United Kingdom (1991–97) He was conferred Padma Bhushan in 1998.

Premankur Atorthy  (1 January 1890 – 13 October 1964) was a novelist, journalist, and film director, born in Faridpur. His father, Mahesh Chandra Atorthy, was a propagator and writer of the brahma samaj. Premankur’s initial schooling started at Brahmo School, Kolkata.

Ameer Minai an Urdu poet of eminence was born in 1826 at Lucknow and died in 1900 at Hyderabad. A popular poet both with the people and the aristocracy, he was held in high esteem by his contemporary poets like Ghalib and Daagh Dehalvi. Amir Meenai’s famous gazal has been sung in a film starred by Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim.
