Smita Patil (17 October 1955 – 13 December 1986) was an Indian actress of film, television and theatre. Regarded among the finest stage and film actresses of her times, Patil appeared in over 75 Hindi and Marathi films in a career that spanned just over a decade.

Sanjay Kapoor (born 17 October 1965) is a Bollywood actor and producer. Son of film producer, Surinder Kapoor, he is the younger brother of actor Anil Kapoor and producer Boney Kapoor and brother-in-law of actress Sridevi.

Simi Garewal (born 17 October 1947 ) is an Indian actress. She is known for her work in Do Badan, Saathi, Mera Naam Joker, Siddhartha and Karz. Simi Garewal was born in Delhi. Her father, J S Garewal served in the army rising to the rank of brigadier.

Soumya Seth (born 17 October 1989 in Guwahati) is an Indian television actress known for her performance in the title role of the TV serial Navya on Star Plus. Soumya’s mother Veena Seth is a Theatre actress. Her family consist of her Parent’s, a Brother and a Sister.

Brinda Karat (born 17 October 1947) is a communist politician from India, elected to the Rajya Sabha as a Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI(M) member, on 11 April 2005 for West Bengal. In 2005, she became the first woman member of the CPI(M) Politburo.

Kannadasan (24 June 1927 – 17 October 1981) was a Tamil poet and lyricist, heralded as one of the greatest and most important writers in the Tamil language. Frequently called Kaviarasu (English: King of Poets), Kannadasan was most familiar for his song lyrics in Tamil films.

Sir Hakim Muhammad Said ( January 9, 1920 – October 17, 1998, NI, PhD), was a prominent and world acclaimed medical researcher, scholar, philanthropist, and a former Governor of Sindh Province of Pakistan from 1993 until 1996. Said was one of Pakistan’s most renowned medical researchers in the field of eastern medicines.

Vijay Bhatt (born as Vijayshankar Jagneshwar Bhatt) (1907–1993) was a noted producer-director-screenwriter of Hindi cinema, who made such films as Ram Rajya (1943), Baiju Bawra (1952), Goonj Uthi Shehnai (1959) and Himalaya Ki God Mein (1965).

Sarojini Varadappan (b. September 21, 1921) is an Indian social worker from the state of Tamil Nadu. She is the daughter of former Chief Minister of Madras, M. Bhaktavatsalam. Sarojini was born in Madras on September 21, 1921 to Bhaktavatsalam and Gnanasundarambal. Her father Bhaktavatsalam was a student at the Madras Law college when she was born.
