- Sampooran Singh Kalra (born 18 August 1936), known popularly by his pen name Gulzar, is an Indian poet, lyricist and director. He primarily writes in Hindi-Urdu and has also written in Punjabi and several dialects of Hindi such as Braj Bhasha, Khariboli, Haryanvi and Marwari. Gulzar was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2004 for his contribution to the arts and the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2002.
- Ranvir Shorey (born 18 August 1972) is an Indian actor and former VJ. Since making his debut in Ek Chhotisi Love Story (2002), he has starred in a number of high profile films such as Jism (2003) and Lakshya (2004). He has also starred in the critically acclaimed films Traffic Signal, Bheja Fry (2007) and the critical and commercial hit Mithya (2008). Along with friend and co-star Vinay Pathak.
- Preeti Jhangiani (born 18 August 1980 in Mangalore, Karnataka) is an Indian actress and model. She is fluent in Kannada, Sindhi, Hindi, English. She studied in Jai Hind College, Mumbai where her older sister Deepa studied as well. Her mother is the vice-principal of the junior college section of Jai Hind College. Preeti Jhangiani first appeared in a Rajshri Productions music album Yeh Hai Prem.
- Daler Mehndi born August 18, 1967, is an Indian Bhangra pop singer who is known for his hit song Tunak Tunak Tun. Mehndi was a student of traditional Punjabi music and his first album broke sales records in India. Since 1995 he has recorded several highly successful albums in India, and also sung as a playback singer for several Hindi movies.
- Sangeeta Ghosh ( born on 18 Aug 1976 ). is a Bollywood, television actress and a model. She is better known as Pammi from Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand. She has also anchored and hosted several award shows and television series’. She anchored the show Nach Baliye with Shabbir Ahluwalia where she also gave multiple dance performances.
- Vijaya Lakshmi Nehru Pandit (18 August 1900 – 1 December 1990) was an Indian diplomat and politician, the sister of Jawaharlal Nehru, the aunt of Indira Gandhi and the great-aunt of Rajiv Gandhi, all of whom served as Prime Minister of India. In 1921 she married Ranjit Sitaram Pandit, a successful barrister from Kathiawad and classical scholar .

- Protima Gauri Bedi (October 12, 1948 – August 18, 1998) was an Indian model turned Odissi exponent. In 1990, she established ‘Nrityagram’, a dance village near Bangalore. Protima was born in Delhi, the second daughter in a family of four, which included three daughters and a son. Her father Laxmichand Gupta was a trader who belonged to a bania family from Karnal district.
- Persis Khambatta (2 October 1948 – 18 August 1998) was an Indian model, actress and author. She was best known for her role as Lieutenant Ilia in the 1979 feature film Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Persis Khambatta was born into a middle-class Parsee home in Bombay in 1948. She first gained fame when a set of her pictures casually taken by a well-known Bombay photographer.
- Atulya Ghosh (28 August 1904 – 18 April 1986) was a Bengali politician and an able political organiser who had become a legend in Indian political circles. He has been described as “a wise, scholarly and honest leader who was a superb political organizer.” He was born on 28 August 1904. The family hailed from Jejur in Hooghly district.
