Kumar Sanu (alias Kedarnath Bhattacharya, born in Kolkata) is a leading Indian Bollywood playback singer. He was awarded the Filmfare Best Male Playback Award over five consecutive years. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2009.

Tanuja Mukherjee (23 September 1943), popularly known as Tanuja, is an Indian film actress. She is the mother of Kajol and Tanisha, and is most remembered for her roles in Hindi films like Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi (1966), Jewel Thief, Haathi Mere Saathi (1971), and Anubhav (1971).

Prem Chopra (born September 23, 1935)is an actor in Hindi and Punjabi films. He has acted in over 400 films. He is famous for his soft spoken diction despite being a villain in most films. Chopra was born to a Hindu Punjabi family in Lahore on 23 September 1935 to Ranbirlal and Rooprani Chopra.

Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ (September 23, 1908 – April 24, 1974) was an Indian Hindi poet, essayist and academic, who is considered as one of the most important modern Hindi poets. He remerged as a poet of rebellion as a consequence of his nationalist poetry written in the days before Indian independence.

Shobha (23 September 1962 – 1 May 1980) was an South Indian film actress. She has won the National award for Best Actress for her role in the Tamil film Pasi at a young age of 17. She started her career as a child artist in the film Udyogastha.

Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati known popularly as Silk Smitha was an Indian film artiste who worked predominantly in the South Indian languages. She entered the film industry as an extra actress, and first got noticed for her role as “Silk” in the 1979 Tamil film Vandichakkaram.

Pritilata Waddedar (5 May 1911 – 23 September 1932) was a Bengali anti-British revolutionary from Chittagong (in present-day Bangladesh). She was a part of the armed resistance movement led by Surya Sen, and participated in a 1932 attack on the Pahartali European Club, which bore the sign ‘Dogs and Indians not allowed’.

Raja Ramanna (January 28, 1925 – September 24, 2004), D.Phil., was an Indian nuclear scientist and a prominent physicist, is best known for his leadership directing the research integral for the development of Indian nuclear programme in its early stages.

Jayachama Rajendra Wadiyar Bahadur (18 July 1919 – 23 September 1974) was the 25th and the last Maharaja of the princely state of Mysore from 1940 to 1950. He was a noted philosopher, musicologist, political thinker and philanthropist.

Antonio Francisco Xavier Alvares (Alvares Mar Julius, Julius Mar Alvarez) (April 29, 1836-September 23, 1923) was initially a priest in Roman Catholic Church in Goa. He voluntarily joined the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and in 1889 was elevated to Metropolitan of Goa, Ceylon and Greater India in the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
