  • Mallika Sherawat (Hindi: मल्लिका शेरावत, born Reema Lamba) is an Indian actress who appears mainly in Bollywood films. Known for her bold onscreen attitude, Sherawat has been frequently featured in the media as a sex symbol. She is one of the few Bollywood stars trying to crossover to Hollywood, with films like Hisss and Politics of Love.
  • Bahadur Shah II (Urdu: بہادر شاہ دوم), better known as Bahadur Shah Zafar, born Abu Zafar Sirajuddin Muhammad Bahadur Shah Zafar (Urdu: ابو ظفر سِراجُ الْدین محمد بُہادر شاہ ظفر), on 24 October 1775  – died 7 November 1862) was the last Mughal emperor and a member of the Timurid Dynasty. Zafar was the son of Akbar Shah II and Lalbai, who was a Hindu Rajput, and became Mughal Emperor.
  • Laila Mehdin (born 24 October 1980) is an Indian actress. She has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi language films. She is probably best known for her critically acclaimed and award-winning performances in the Bala-directed films Nandha and Pithamagan. She made her debut in the Telugu film Yegire Pavurama (1996) directed by S. V. Krishna Reddy.
  • Rasipuram Krishnaswamy Iyer Laxman (born 23 October 1921, Mysore, India) is an Indian cartoonist, illustrator, and humorist. He is best known for his creation The Common Man. R. K. Laxman was born in Mysore. His father was a headmaster and Laxman was the youngest of six sons; an older brother is the novelist, R. K. Narayan.
  • Jeevan, born as Omkar Nath Dhar (Kashmiri: ओमकार नाथ धर (Devanagari), اومکار ناتھ دھر (Nastaleeq)) (born October 24, 1915 in Srinagar – died June 10, 1987), was a Kashmiri Indian Hindi film actor who acted as Narad Muni in mythological films of the 1950s. Later he essayed the role of a villain in many films of the 60s, 70s and 80s. His son Kiran Kumar is also an actor.
  • Vikas Bhalla(born on October 24, 1973) is an Indian actor and singer, who is best known for his role in the TV serial, Shanno Ki Shaadi, which aired on STAR Plus and Tum Bin Jaaoon Kahan. Born in 1973, he studied at Bombay Scottish School and after that he did his B.Com. from Narsee Monjee College, Mumbai.
  • Lakshmi Sahgal (or Sehgal) (born October 24, 1914) was an activist of the Indian independence movement, an officer of the Indian National Army, and the Minister of Women’s Affairs in the Azad Hind government. Sahgal is commonly referred to in India as Captain Lakshmi, a reference to her rank when taken prisoner in Burma.
  • Meghna Reddy (born October 24, 1975) is an Indian model and VJ for Channel V. Her family came from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. She is the second of the siblings and actresses, Sushma and Sameera. They currently live in Mumbai. Reddy is a former VJ who co-anchored a successful show, Mangta Hai, on Channel V during the mid-nineties.

  • Prabodh Chandra Dey (born 1 May 1919), better known by his nickname Manna Dey (Bengali: মান্না দে), is a playback singer in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kanada, Assamese films. Along with Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh he was a part of Indian film playback music industry. He is rated best classical singer among all singers of Hindi film music.
  • Sir Albert Abdullah David Sassoon, 1st Baronet, KCB, CSI, (25 July 1818 – 24 October 1896) was a British Indian philanthropist and merchant. Sir Albert was born in Baghdad, a member of a Jewish family that had lived there since the beginning of the 16th century, having been expelled from Spain in the 1490s. He was named Abdullah at birth, but changed his name to Albert later in life.
  • Ismat Chughtai (Urdu: عصمت چغتائی) (August 1915 – 24 October 1991) was an eminent Urdu writer, known for her indomitable spirit and a fierce feminist ideology. She was considered the grand dame of Urdu fiction, Along with Rashid Jahan, Wajeda Tabassum and Qurratulain Hyder, Ismat’s work stands for the birth of a revolutionary feminist politics and aesthetics in twentieth century.
  • Rafi Ahmed Kidwai (Hindi: रफ़ी अहमद क़िदवई), (18 February 1894 – 24 October 1954) was a politician, an Indian independence activist and a socialist, sometimes described as an Islamic socialist. He hailed from Barabanki District of United Provinces, now Uttar Pradesh, in north India. He was born on 18 February 1894 in the village of Masauli, in Barabanki district, United Provinces, India.
  • Caroline Frances Eleanor Spurgeon (24 October 1869, India – 24 October 1942, Tucson, Arizona) was an English literary critic. She was educated at Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Dresden and at King’s College London and University College London. Caroline Spurgeon is known as the first female university professor in London, the second in England.

  •  1505 -> Don Francis-Di-Almeda of Portugal arrived at Cochin as Viceroy of India.
  • 1605 -> Jahangir became the fourth Emperor of Mughal Empire at Agra.
  • 1657 -> Kalyan and Bhiwandi came under the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
  • 1851 -> First official telegraph line was opened between Calcutta and Daimond Harbour spanning 33.8 km.
