Murlidhar Devidas Amte (December 26, 1914 – February 9, 2008), popularly known as Baba Amte (Marathi: बाबा आमटे), was an Indian social worker and social activist known particularly for his work for the rehabilitation and empowerment of poor people suffering from leprosy. Amte was born to Devidas and Laxmibai Amte in the town of Hinganghat in Wardha District of Maharashtra.
Udham Singh (Punjabi: ਊਧਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ; December 26, 1899 – July 31, 1940) was an Indian independence activist, best known for assassinating Michael O’Dwyer in March 1940 in what has been described as an avenging of the Jallianwalla Bagh Massacre.
Captain Vijyant Thapar (Dec 26,1976– June 29, 1999) was an officer of the Indian Army and belonged to the famous 2 Rajputana Rifles (infantry regiment). He was posthumously awarded India’s high military honour the Vir Chakra by the president, for his audacious bravery during the Kargil War.
Sattanathapuram Venkataraman Shekhar (Tamil: சட்டநாதபுரம் வெங்கடராமன் சேகர் Caţţanātapuram Věŋkaţarāmaņ Cēkar) (born 26 December 1950) is a Tamil playwright and film actor known best for his slapstick humor and for his public welfare initiatives.
Mother Meera, born Kamala Reddy (born 26 December 1960) is believed by her devotees to be an embodiment (Avatar) of the Divine Mother (Shakti). Born in Chandepalle a small village in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh, India, she had her first samādhi, a state of complete spiritual absorption, at the age of six, which lasted for a whole day.
Dr. Abid Hussain (26 December 1926 – 21 June 2012) was an Indian economist, civil servant and diplomat. He was India’s Ambassador to the United States of America from 1990 to 1992 and a member of the Planning Commission from 1985 to 1990. He was married to Trilok Karki, author of “Sino-Indian Conflict and International Politics in the Indian Sub-Continent”, (1977) and has three children.

Shankar Dayal Sharma pronunciation (help·info) (Hindi: शंकर दयाल शर्मा; 19 August 1918 – 26 December 1999) was the ninth President of India serving from 1992 to 1997. Prior to his presidency, Dr Sharma had been the eighth Vice President of India, serving under President Ramaswamy Venkataraman.
Henry Louis Vivian Derozio (18 April 1809 – 26 December 1831) was an Indian poet and assistant headmaster of Hindu College, Kolkata, a radical thinker and one of the first Indian educators to disseminate Western learning and science among the young men of Bengal.
“Trailanga Swami” (also Tailang Swami, Telang Swami) (Telugu: త్రిలింగ స్వామి) (reportedly c. 1529 or 1607-1887) was a Hindu yogi famed for his spiritual powers who lived in Varanasi, India. He is regarded as a legendary figure in Bengal, with many stories told about his yogic powers, longevity.
Kesava Shankara Pillai (Malayalam: കെ. ശങ്കര്‍ പിള്ള) (31 July 1902 – 26 December 1989), better known as Shankar, was an Indian cartoonist. He is considered the father of political cartooning in India. He founded Shankar’s Weekly, India’s Punch in 1948. Shankar’s Weekly also produced cartoonists like Abu Abraham, Ranga and Kutty, he closed down the magazine during the Emergency of 26 June 1975.
