Manmohan Singh  born 26 September 1932) is the 13th and current Prime Minister of India. He is the only Prime Minister since Jawaharlal Nehru to return to power after completing a full five-year term. A Sikh, he is the first non-Hindu to occupy the office. Singh is also the 7th Prime Minister from the Indian National Congress (Congress) party.

Dharam Dev Pishorimal Anand (26 September 1923 – 3 December 2011), better known as Dev Anand, was an Indian film actor, writer, director and producer known for his work in Hindi cinema. Part of the Anand family, he co-founded Navketan Films in 1949 with his elder brother Chetan Anand. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 2001.

Archana Puran Singh (born 26 September 1962) is an Indian television presenter and film actress. She is most known for comedy roles (laughter queen) , and as a judge on comedy shows, like Sony TV India’s Comedy Circus. In Mumbai, she started doing ad-films, and was successful after her most famous ad for Band-Aid. The ad was produced by Jalal Agha.

Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar  (26 September 1820 – 29 July 1891) born Ishwar Chandra Bandyopadhyaywas a Bengali polymath from the Indian subcontinent, and a key figure of the Bengal Renaissance. He was a philosopher, academic educator, writer, translator, printer, publisher, entrepreneur, reformer and philanthropist.

Hemanta Kumar Mukhopadhyay  Hemanta Mukherjee; 16 June 1920 – 26 September 1989) was a Bengali singer, composer and producer. He sang in Hindi films under the name Hemant Kumar. Hemanta was born in the city of Varanasi (now in India). His family originated from Baharu village in West Bengal. They migrated to Kolkata in the early 1900s.

Shyama Charan Lahiri  (September 30, 1828 – September 26, 1895), best known as Lahiri Mahasaya, was an Indian yogi and a disciple of Mahavatar Babaji. He was also popularly known as Yogiraj and Kashi Baba. He revived the yogic science of Kriya Yoga when he learned it from Mahavatar Babaji in 1861.

Uday Shankar (8 December 1900 – 26 September 1977)  the pioneer of modern dance in India, and a world renowned Indian dancer and choreographer, was most known for adapting Western theatrical techniques to traditional Indian classical dance, imbued with elements of Indian classical, folk, and tribal dance, thus laying the roots of modern Indian dance.

Arjun Kumar Sengupta (10 June 1937 – 26 September 2010) was a Member of the Parliament of India, representing West Bengal in the Rajya Sabha from 2006 until his death. In addition to being a Parliamentarian, he was one of India’s most noted economists, and led a multifaceted career as an academician and economic policy administrator.

Charles Skinner Hallpike, CBE, FRS (19 July 1900 – 26 September 1979) was an English otologist. He was born in Murree, India, a hill station now in Pakistan, the son of Frank Hallpike. The family returned to the UK when he was 3 years old. He attended St Paul’s School (London) as a classical scholar and then Guy’s Hospital in 1919 on an Arts scholarship. He qualified MRCS and LRCP in 1924.
