- Auto Shankar (January 21, 1954 – April 27, 1995) is the nickname of an Indian serial killer. Shankar and his gang were found guilty of six murders, committed over a period of two years in 1988–1989. They were tried for the murders of Lalitha, Sudalai, Sampath, Mohan, Govindaraj and Ravi. The bodies of the victims were either burnt or buried inside residential houses.
- J. V. Somayajulu (27 April 1928)was an Indian theatre and film actor. His most notable role was as Sankar Sastry in the Telugu movie Shankarabharanam he has won Film fare Best Actor Award (Telugu). He was an IAS officer and is believed to be the only officer in that rank to have acted in films.
