  • Ahana Deol is a budding Odissi dancer. She is notable because she is the daughter of Indian film actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini. With varying interests, including Indian classical dance, film-making & fashion designing, Ahana is now an actor-in-the-making. She lives in Mumbai, India with her mother Hema Malini and sister Esha Deol.
  • Ayesha Jhulka ( born 28 July 1972 in Srinagar, India) is an Indian film actress. During her career, she has worked with major stars like Mithun Chakraborty, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Govinda, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan etc. She is the daughter of Wing Commander Jhulka, an Indian Air Force Officer.
  • Salim Veragi (born July 28, 1986) is an Indian cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler who plays for Baroda. He was born in Tankariya. Veragi made his first-class debut in January 2008, in the Elite Group semi-final of the 2007-08 Ranji Trophy tournament, playing against Delhi.

  • Leela Naidu (1940 – 28 July 2009) was an Indian actress who starred in a small number of Hindi and English films, including Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke (1963), based on the real-life Nanavati case, and The Householder, Merchant Ivory Productions’ first film. She was Femina Miss India in 1954, and was featured in the Vogue along with Maharani Gayatri Devi .
  • Tarimala Nagi Reddy (11 February 1917 – 28 July 1976), often called “TN” was a communist politician from Andhra Pradesh, India. T.N. Reddy was born in a wealthy family in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. He did his schooling from Rishi Valley School India, founded by the philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti.He studied at Loyola College in Madras and at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi.
  • Naoomal Jeoomal Makhija (April 17, 1904, Karachi – July 28, 1980, Bombay) was India’s first opening batsman in Test cricket. Naoomal Jeoomal scored 33 and 25 opening India’s innings in their first ever Test at Lord’s in 1932. He also shared stands of 39 and 41 with his opening partner Janardan Navle in the two innings.

  • 1872 – Albert P Sarraut, French Governor General of Indo-China (1911..19)/PM (1933/36), was born.
  • 1914 – Japanese boat ‘Kamagata Maru’ was compelled to deport to India from Vancouver, Canada. The ship was boarded with active freedom fighters who were against the British Government.
  • 1921 – Congress decided to boycott the visit of Prince of Wales in India.
  • 1972 – India and Pakistan sign Simla Pact, settling border dispute in Kashmir.
