- Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (born Nimmakuru, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh; 28 May 1923 – 18 January 1996), popularly known by his initials NTR, was an Indian film actor, director, producer, and a politician. He is also called as “Anna Garu”(Elder Brother) by Telugu People.
- Vināyak Dāmodar Sāvarkar (May 1883 – 26 February 1966) was an Indian freedom fighter, revolutionary and politician. He was the proponent of liberty as the ultimate ideal. Savarkar was a poet, writer and playwrighter.
- K. Satchidanandan (born 28 May 1946) is a major Indian poet and critic, writing in Malayalam, and English. Satchidanandan has established himself as an academician, editor, translator and playwright. Born in central Kerala, he was a Professor of English and Editor of Indian Literature, the journal of the Sahitya Akademi (India’s National Academy of Literature).

- Edward VIII (Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David; later The Duke of Windsor; 23 June 1894 – 28 May 1972) was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth, and Emperor of India, from 20 January to 11 December 1936.
Notable Events:
- 1930: Bhagwati Charan Vohra, a revolutionary who used Kashmir Building in Lahore as a bomb factory and executed the plan to bomb the train Lord Irwin was traveling in, died during a bomb testing.
- 1964: Jawaharlal Nehru was cremated and the cremation was witnessed by hundreds of mourners. A million Indians lined the route his body was passed from.
- 1965: Dhanbad coal mine disaster. The blast killed 268 miners.
- 1992: Indo-US Naval exercises began when Washington renewed military contacts.
