Ajay Devgan – Ajay Devgan is an Indian film actor, director and producer who was born in New Delhi on April 2nd, 1969. He began his professional career in 1991 with a blockbuster, Phool aur Kaante and went on to win numerous awards including 2 National Film Awards and 4 Film fare Awards.
Swami Narayan – Swami Narayan was born in Chhapiya, Uttar Pradesh in 1781 as Ghanshyam Pande. He was a Yogi and an ascetic who left home to practice the path of Dharma and Brahmcharya. His followers were from different religions and he appointed 500 Paramhamsas (Teachers) to spread his message across the world.
Roshan Seth – The Indian born British actor appeared predominantly in British and American movies. He was born in Patna, Bihar and did his schooling from the prestigious Doon school. He portrayed the character of India’s first Prime Minister “Jawahar Lal Nehru” in the TV series “Bharat Ek Khoj”.

Death anniversaries on 2nd April:

K S Ranjitsinji – Often known as “Ranji”, Ranjitsinhji was the ruler of India’s princely state of Navanagar. He was a noted cricketer who also played for the English Cricket Team. Considering his contributions to the world of cricket, India named the first-class tournament between states as “Ranji Trophy”.

Notable Events:  Kanhoji Angre was appointed as the Admiral of Marathas Naval force in 1698.

1891 – Tristão de Bragança Cunha, Indian nationalist and anti-colonial activist from Goa (d. 1958)
1896 – Johnny Golden, American golfer (d. 1936)
1679 –  Aurangzeb reimposed Jizya Tax to finance the spread of Islam on the Hindus.This Jeziya tax was abolished by Akbar.

1702 –  Balaji Vishwanath Bhat, first Peshwa, passed away.
1870 – Poona Sarvajanik Sabha was found. 95 members from different parts of Maharashtra assembled in Pune during its founding
1877 –  Narottam Morarjee, great social reformer and the architect of the modern Indian Shipping, was born at Porbandar.
1902 –  Gulam Ali Khan Ustad Bade was born
1926 – The worst Hindu-Muslim riots break out in Calcutta.
1933 – Sir Ranjitsinhji Vibhaji “Ranji”, Maharaj, jamsaheb of Nawanagar and noted cricketer, passed away. He was referred as “The prince of a little state, but the King of a great game”. He scored 989 Test runs with a 1st-class avg. 56.
1942 -Andaman Islands, U.S. Army Air Force Flying Fortresses, bomb the Japanese fleet.
1942 – Congress rejected the proposal of Sir Stepherd Crips.
1948 – Defence Minister announces the establishment of the National War Academy in Kharakvasla, Poona .
