Homi Jehangir Bhabha, ( 30 October 1909 – 24 January 1966; FRS) was an Indian nuclear physicist, founding director, and professor of physics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. Colloquially known as “father of Indian nuclear programme”, Bhabha was the founding director of two well-known research institutions, namely the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR)

Abhijeet Bhattacharya (born 30 October 1958) is an Indian singer. Abhijeet was born in a Bengali family in Kanpur, the youngest of four. He passed his matriculation from Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School, Kanpur and Class XII from BNSD Inter College Chunni Ganj, Kanpur; and graduated in commerce (B.Com.) from Christ Church College, Kanpur in 1977.

Dalip Tahil (born 30 October 1952, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India) is an Indian film, television and theatre actor. He did his schooling from the elite Sherwood College in Nainital, India and later graduated from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Dalip Tahil initially made his foray into theatres in Prithvi Theatre’s bestselling play Pakke Dhagge opposite Sanjana Kapoor daughter of Shashi Kapoor.

K. V. Anand is an Indian cinematographer, film director and former photo journalist. After working for a short period as a journalist, he became a cinematographer in the early 1990s, working for about fifteen films in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu.

Pramod Venkatesh Mahajan(30 October 1949 – 3 May 2006) was a prominent Indian politician. He was one of the most powerful second generation leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and, at the time of his death, was locked in a power struggle over who would take over the reins of the BJP when the current aging leadership retires.

Vinod Mehra (13 February 1945 – 30 October 1990) was an Indian actor in Bollywood films. He started out as a child actor in a few films in the late 1950s and early 1960s before starting his adult film career in 1971 acting in over 100 films throughout the 1970s through to the 1990s.

Sardar Swaran Singh was an Indian politician. He was India’s longest serving union cabinet minister. Saradar Swaran Singh was born on 19th August 1907 in Shankar Village in Jallandhar District of Punjab. He was born into an agricultural family. He completed his intermediate (High school) ar Rahdhir College in Kapurthala.

Vishwanath Chintamani Bedekar (Devanagari: विश्वनाथ चिंतामणी बेडेकर) (1906 – 1998), who professionally used the name Vishram Bedekar (विश्राम बेडेकर), was a Marathi writer and movie director from Maharashtra, India. Bedekar was born on August 13, 1906 in Amravati, Vidarbha. After receiving his college degree in Amravati, he went to Nagpur for his post-graduate studies

Shamsher Singh Sheri, alias Karam Singh (1942 – October 30, 2005) was a communist leader in India. Sheri was born in the village of Khokhar Kalan, in the Sangrur district, Punjab. Soon after his birth his father died. He was married to Harbans Kaur in 1951. Harbans was only nine years old at the time. Sheri joined the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) and went underground 1969-1970.

Captain Robert Henry Dundas Bolton OBE (13 January 1893 – 30 October 1964) was an Indian Army and British Army officer, police officer and English cricketer. Bolton was commissioned into the Indian Army and served with the 101st Grenadiers during the First World War. In November 1921, as a Captain, he transferred to the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment of the British Army.

1947: The government rejects Kashmir’s decision to join India in Pakistan.
1977: One hundred thousand Tamil Hindu tea-pickers, who were expatriated from Sri Lanka,                 are shipped to Madras, South India.
