Mumtaz (born 31 July 1947, Bombay) is a Bollywood actress, best remembered for her roles in Tere Mere Sapne (1971) and Khilona (1970). Her performance in Khilona got her the Filmfare Best Actress Award, while the film itself won the Filmfare Best Movie Award. She is cited as one of the top Bollywood sex symbols of her time.

Premchand (July 31, 1880 – October 8, 1936) was an Indian writer famous for his modern Hindi-Urdu literature. He is one of the most celebrated writers of the Indian subcontinent, and is regarded as one of the foremost Hindi-Urdu writers of the early twentieth century.

Sarath Babu is an Indian film actor, who has acted in almost all the major south Indian languages – Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. He has been in the industry for nearly 37 years and has acted in more than 200 movies, most of them in a supporting role.

Damodar Dharmananda Kosambi (July 31, 1907 – June 29, 1966) was an Indian mathematician, statistician, Marxist historian, and polymath who contributed to genetics by introducing Kosambi’s map function.

Kesava Shankara Pillai (31 July 1902 – 26 December 1989), better known as Shankar, was an Indian cartoonist. He is considered the father of political cartooning in India. He founded Shankar’s Weekly, India’s Punch in 1948.

Mohammad Rafi (December 24, 1924 – July 31, 1980) is considered by many to be the greatest Indian male playback singer of all time in Hindi Film Industry. In his lifetime, he was awarded the National Film Award, Best National Singer Award and six Filmfare Awards.

Dheeran Chinnamalai (born as Theerthagiri Sarkkarai Mandraadiyaar or Theerthagiri Gounder on April 17, 1756) was a Kongu chieftain and Palayakkarar from Tamil Nadu who rose up in revolt against the British East India Company in the Kongu Nadu, Southern India. He was born in Melapalayam, near Erode in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Allu Rama Lingaiah (1 October 1922 – 31 July 2004), commonly known as Allu, was an Indian Telugu language comedic actor from Palakollou, India who appeared in over one thousand Tollywood films.

Allan Octavian Hume (6 June 1829 – 31 July 1912) was a civil servant, political reformer and amateur ornithologist and horticulturalist in British India. He was one of the founders of the Indian National Congress, a political party that was later to lead the Indian independence movement.

Udham Singh (December 26, 1899 – July 31, 1940) was an Indian independence activist, best known for assassinating Michael O’Dwyer in March 1940 in what has been described as an avenging of the Jallianwalla Bagh Massacre.
