She was the first woman of Indian origin to study and graduate with a two-year diploma in medicine in the United States. She is also believed to be the first Indian woman to set foot on American soil.
- Sheila Dikshit born on 31 March 1938 is an Indian politician who was the longest serving Chief Minister of Delhi, serving for a period of 15 years from 1998 to 2013. She is a member of the Indian National Congress. Sheila Dikshit led the Congress to three consecutive electoral victories in Delhi.
