- Prabhu Deva– (born 3 April 1973) is an Indian dancer, choreographer, film actor and director. He has performed in a wide range of dancing styles. He has also been labelled as Indian Michael Jackson and holds Michael Jackson as his dance idol.
- Jaya Prada– (born 3 April 1962) is an Indian film actress and politician. She has starred in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali and Marathi films, Satyajit Ray is said to have described Jaya Prada as the most beautiful face on the Indian screen.
- Ramnath Goenka– (1904 – 1991) was an Indian newspaper publisher. He launched The Indian Express and created the Indian Express Group with various English and regional language publications. In 2000, India Today magazine, named him amongst their list of “100 People Who Shaped India”.
- Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw, MC “Sam Bahadur” (lit. Sam the Brave) (3 April 1914 – 27 June 2008) as a Field Marshal of the Indian Army.

- 1984– Soyuz T-11 carries 3 cosmonauts (1 Indian-Rakesh Sharma) to Salyut 7
- A historic feat was achieved on April 3, 1933, right above the peaks of the cloud-kissing Mount Everest ranges. Two aircrafts, namely a ‘Westland Wallace’ and a ‘Houston-Westland’, flew at a height of approximately 100 feet above the peak of the mountains, on this day.
- 1670-Tanaji Malusure, right hand of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, passed away during the battle of Singhgad fort
- 1680-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, great Maratha emperor, patriot, soldier, freedom fighter, revolutionary and great son of India, passed away at Raigarh fort. His son Sambhaji succeeded to the throne.
- 1700-Sikandar, former sultan of Vijapur, passed away at Satara in the imprisonment of Mughals.

- 1903-Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay, famous politician, freedom fighter and social worker, was born in South Kanara, Karnataka.
