  • Sunil Chhetri (born 3 August 1984 in New Delhi) is an Indian footballer who is currently playing for Sporting Clube de Portugal B in the Liga de Honra. Chhetri started his football career playing for school teams and then for his local club, City Club. Since then, he has represented I-League clubs Mohun Bagan, East Bengal Club and JCT FC. At Mohun Bagan, he scored eight goals over three seasons.
  • Manish Paul (born August 3, 1981 in, Mumbai, India) is an Indian television actor. Manish started his career as an RJ with radio city’s morning drive time – kasakai mumbai. Later he entered channel Star One’s Ghost Bana Dost to play the role of a ghost. Before getting into anchoring, manish paul has acted in many serials like Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi on NDTV Imagine, Zindadil and many more.
  • Tara (born 3 of August 1944 in Imphal, Manipur, India) is an Assamese film actress, who has worked in Assamese, Manipuri, Punjabi and Hindi films in a career extending more than 50 years. Her prominent features include Halodhia Choraye Baodhan Khai, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 1988, Banaras – A Mystic Love Story, and Shakuntala, directed by Bhupen Hazarika.
  • Gopal Sharma  (born August 3, 1960, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh) is a former Indian cricketer who played in 5 Tests and 11 ODIs from 1985 to 1990. He was an off-spinner but was overshadowed by the spinners of the day for a place in the international squad – Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Maninder Singh, Arshad Ayub, Shivlal Yadav, Ravi Shastri and Narendra Hirwani.

  • Swami Chinmayananda (8 May 1916 – 4 August 1993), born Balakrishna Menon (Balan), was an Indian Hindu spiritual leader and teacher, who inspired the formation of Chinmaya Mission in 1953 to spread the message of Vedanta. The organization that was founded by his disciples and led by him, the Chinmaya Mission, has over 300 centers in India and the world over.
  • Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV (June 4, 1884 – August 3, 1940, Bangalore Palace), also known popularly as Nalwadi Krishna Raja Wadiyar was the ruling Maharaja of the princely state of Mysore from 1902 until his death in 1940. He is regarded as one of the most celebrated rulers among the Indian States when India was still under British rule.
  • Bapi Bose (October 16, 1909 – August 3, 1977), born Sailendra Mohan Bose, was an Indian cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman who played for Bengal. He was born in Calcutta and died in Bombay. Bose made two first-class appearances for the Indian University Occasionals, scoring a duck in the first innings in which he batted, against Ceylon.

  • 1886 – Maithili Sharan Gupta, first man of modern Hindi poetry and literature, writer, patriot and social worker, was born at Chirgaon village near Jhansi.
  • 1890 – Sriprakash, freedom fighter, prolific writer and member of the AICC, was born at Varanasi.
