  • Kishore Kumar (4 August 1929 – 13 October 1987), born Abhas Kumar Kanjilal Ganguly was an Indian film playback singer and an actor who also worked as lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenwriter and scriptwriter. Kishore Kumar sang in many Indian languages including Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam and Oriya. He won 8 Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer.
  • Neil Bhatt (born August 4, 1987) is an Indian television actor from Mumbai, India. He has previously acted in the television shows Arslaan and 12/24 Karol Bagh and stars as Kesar in Gulaal (TV series) on Star Plus.  He won Favorite Naya Sadasya Award at the 2010 Zee Rishtey Awards  for his role in 12/24 karol bagh.
  • Shama Sikander is an Indian Film/TV actress. She is known mainly for playing the role of Pooja Mehta in the popular Sony TV drama Ye Meri Life Hai. In 1991, she came to Mumbai to try her luck in Bollywood. Shama received fame as Pooja Mehta in the hit television serial Ye Meri Life Hai.She did a movie named Coincidence ki Talash. Shama Sikander was born on August 4, 1981 in Makrana, Rajasthan.
  • Udham Singh Kular known as Udham Singh (1928–2000) originally from Sansarpur, Jalandhar, Punjab, India had played 1952 Summer Olympics Helsinki, 1956 Summer Olympics Melbourne, 1960 Summer Olympics Rome and 1964 Summer Olympics Tokyo as a member of Indian Hockey team and won three gold and a silver medals (set an Olympic record for a player in the Olympic Field Hockey competition).

Death anniversaries on 4th August:

  • Nandini Satpathy (9 June 1931 in Cuttack – 4 August 2006 in Bhubaneswar) was an Indian politician and author. She was the Chief Minister of Orissa from June 1972 to December 1976. Satpathy was born on 9 June 1931 and grew up in Pithapur, Cuttack, India. She was the eldest daughter of Kalindi Charan Panigrahi.
  • Shivaji III (26 December 1830 – 4 August 1866) was a Raja of Kolhapur of the Bhonsle dynasty. He ruled from 1838 to 1866. During his reign, he was granted a personal salute of 19 guns with a hereditary salute of 17 guns. He was succeeded by Rajaram I.
  • Visakham Thirunal Rama Varma GCSI Kaiser-i-Hind FRGS FRAS(19 May 1837 – 4 August 1885) was the Maharaja of the erstwhile Indian kingdom of Travancore from 1880-1885 AD. He succeeded his elder brother Maharajah Ayilyam Thirunal to the throne of Travancore. Vishakham Thirunal Rama varma was born on the 19th of May 1837 to Rani Gowri Rukmini Bayi and her husband Punartham Thirunal Rama Varma  Koi Thampuran of the Royal Family of Thiruvalla.

    Notable Events:

  • 1914 – Gandhiji reaches London and raised Indian Volunteer Corps. 
  • 1923 – Nagpur University started working.
  • 1933 – Gandhi is imprisoned for one year for breaking a restraint order.
  • 1935 – Government of India got the Royal Assent Act 1935.
