- Jyoti Singh Randhawa (born 4 May 1972) is an Indian professional golfer who was ranked in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking several times between 2004 and 2009. Randhawa turned professional in 1994. He participates on the Asian Tour and the European Tour.
- Panakkad Syed Mohammedali Shihab Ba-Alawi Al-Hussainy (May 4, 1936 – August 1, 2009) was a Muslim politician from Kerala, the former leader of the E. K. Sunni faction of Muslims of Kerala, and one of the most famous Islamic scholars from the Indian state of Kerala.
- Satyanarayan Gangaram Pitroda (born 4 May 1942) is an Indian innovator, entrepreneur and policymaker. Currently Adviser to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations, he is also widely considered to have been responsible for India’s communications revolution.

- Tipu Sultan (November 1750, Devanahalli – 4 May 1799, Seringapatam), also known as the Tiger of Mysore, was the ruler of the Sultanate of Mysore. He was the son of Hyder Ali, at that time an officer in the Mysorean army, and his second wife, Fatima or Fakhr-un-Nissa. He was given a number of honorific titles, and was referred to as Sultan Fateh Ali Khan Shahab, Tipu Saheb, Bahadur Khan.
- Pandit Kishan Maharaj (September 3, 1923 – May 4, 2008) was an Indian tabla player who belonged to the Benares gharana of Hindustani classical music. Kishan Maharaj was born in Kabir Chaura, Benaras into a family of professional musicians.
- Dorjee Khandu (3 March 1955 – 4 May 2011) was an Indian politician belonging to the Indian National Congress. He was the sixth Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He was reelected in 2009 general elections for the second term as the chief minister. Khandu died in a helicopter crash near Sela Pass on 30 April 2011.
