  • Gulshan Kumar (5 May 1956 – 12 August 1997) was the founder of the T-Series music label (Super Cassettes Industries Ltd.), and an Indian Bollywood movie producer. T series is now run by his son Bhushan Kumar. His daughter Tulsi Kumar is a playback singer.
  • Giani Zail Singh (May 5, 1916 – December 25, 1994) was an Indian politician and member of the Congress Party. He served as the seventh President of India. His term was marked by Operation Blue Star, the assassination of Indira Gandhi, and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He died of injuries in 1994 after a car accident.

  • Naushad Ali (December 25, 1919 – May 5, 2006) was an Indian musician. He was one of the foremost music directors for Bollywood films, and is particularly known for popularizing the use of classical music in films. His first film as an independent music director was Prem Nagar in 1940.
  • Devan (R. Mahadevan) (8 September 1913 – 5 May 1957) was one of the twentieth century Tamil writers, known for his witty and humorous stories. Devan was a competent and accomplished writer, who used several interesting and varied techniques in fiction writing.
  • Kambalapadu Ediga Madanna (28 May 1902 – 5 May 1994)was a social activist and political leader who fought against the Rayalaseema factionists and forward castes dominations in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh in India to bring social change and political awareness among the oppressed and weaker sections of the Rayalaseema people, particularly among Backward Castes.

  •  1479 Sikh Guru Amardasji, great social worker and teacher, was born at Basare village near Amritsar district.
  • 1818 Karl Marx, great journalist, chief editor, writer and social worker, was born at Trier, Germany.
  •  1903 Former minister William Petty declares Persian Gulf a part of British dominion in India.
