  • Suchitra Sen- A famous Indian actress who made her mark in Hindi and Bengali cinema. She was the first Bengali actress to receive award at an International film festival. She played Paro’s character in Bimal Roy’s classic Devdas. Married to Debnath Sen, Suchitra had a daughter Moon Moon Sen and granddaughters Riya and Raima Sen who themselves are film actresses and celebrities.
  • Dilip Vengsarkar- Who is an Indian cricketer and cricket administrator. He was a key player in the Indian side during late 70s and 80s. Born in Maharashtra, he represented Mumbai in Ranji trophy. His nickname was ‘Colonel’.

  • 6 April 1990- B.T. Ranadive, Indian communist politician died.
  • Popularly known as BTR, Bhalchandra Trimbak Ranadive was an Indian communist politician and trade union leader.
