  • Amrita Rao  is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood films. Beginning her career as a model, Rao made her acting debut with Ab Ke Baras (2002). She then starred in Ken Ghosh’s love-story Ishq Vishk (2003) and earned a Filmfare nomination in the “Best Female Debut” category. Amrita was born in Mumbai to a Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin family.
  • 1975 — Ekta Kapoor, Indian TV and film producer, was born .
  • 1954 — Jayanthi Natarajan, Indian union minister, was born.

 

Death anniversaries on 7th June:

  • Basappa Danappa Jatti  ( 10 September 1912 – 7 June 2002) was the fifth Vice President of India. He was Acting President of India from 11 February 1977 to 25 July 1977.
  • Alladi Ramakrishnan (9 August 1923 – 7 June 2008) was an Indian physicist and the founder of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (Mat-science) in Chennai. He made seminal contributions to Stochastic Process, Particle Physics, Matrix Algebra, Special Theory of Relativity and Quantum Mechanics.

  • 1893: Mahatma Gandhi carried out first act of civil disobedience.
  • 1631-Begum Mumtaj Mahal, wife of Shah Jahan, Emperor of India, passed away at Burhanpur a few hours after the birth of a daughter. She was married in 1612 and the Taj Mahal was built for her.
  • 1955-Jawaharlal Nehru, Indian Prime Minister, visited U.S.S.R.
  • 1974-Mahesh Bhupathi, Tennis star, was born. He is the winner of French Open 1997 (mixed doubles) and 1999 (doubles) and Wimbledon 1999.
