Giridhar Gamang (born 8 April 1943) is a leader of the Indian National Congress and a former Chief Minister of Orissa. He was born at Dibirisingi village in Rayagada district of Orissa. In 1972, he was elected for the first time to the 5th Lok Sabha from Koraput. Subsequently, he was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 1977, 1980, 1984, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998 and 2004. He was the Chief Minister of Oris.
Aranmula Ponnamma (8 April 1915 – 21 February 2011) was a National Award winning Malayalam film actress known for her roles as mother of the protagonist in numerous films. She was widely described as a mother figure in Malayalam cinema. Ponnamma was born as one of five children of Malethu Kesava Pillai and Parukutty Amma in Aranmula, Pathanamthitta, Travancore.
Sreenath Aravind (born 8 April 1984 in Bangalore, Karnataka) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Karnataka and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. A left-arm quick bowler, he was called up to India’s One Day International squad for the series against England in October 2011. In the 2011 Champions League Twenty20 he played in six matches as his team, the Royal Challengers, made it to the final, losing to the Mumbai Indians.
Bhupinder Singh (born 8 April 1939) is an Indian musician, chiefly a Ghazal singer. He was born in Patiala, Punjab in 1939 to Prof Natha Singh ji (Punjabi Sikh), a trained vocalist and his early music teacher. His father was a strict teacher, and Bhupinder singh ji hated music and its instruments at one stage. Early in his career, Bhupinder performed on All India Radio, Delhi.
Anantha Sriram Chegondi (Telugu: born 8 April 1984) is an Indian lyricist, mainly writing lyrics for songs in Telugu language films. He is a nephew of the politician and cine producer Chegondi Venkata Harirama Jogaiah and hails from Palakollu area of West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. He studied in Bapatla Engineering College.

Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay (Bengali: 26 June 1838 – 8 April 1894) was a Bengali writer, poet and journalist. He was the composer of India’s national song Vande Mataram, originally a Bengali and Sanskrit stotra personifying India as a mother goddess and inspiring the activists during the Indian Freedom Movement.
Jaddanbai (1892 or 1908 – 8 April 1949) was an early singer, music composer, actress and filmmaker of Bollywood and one of the pioneers of Indian cinema. She was the mother of well-known actress, Nargis and maternal grandmother of Sanjay Dutt. Jaddan Bai Hussain was born in 1892 at Allahabad in a Muslim family of Punjab who moved to Allahabad. Her father died when she was five.
Mahboob Zahedi (2 February 1929 – 8 April 2006) was an Indian politician who represented the Katwa (Lok Sabha constituency) in West Bengal from 1996 till his death in 2006. A former soldier of Indian National Army, he had fought British forces under the leadership of Shahnawaz Khan. Besides being a leading organiser of the peasantry in West Bengal, he was also associated with the Left cultural movement.
Nilakanta Sri Ram or Nilakantha Sri Ram (N. Sri Ram) (* 15 December 1889 in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India; died 8 April 1973 in Adyar, India) was a freemason, theosophist and president of the Theosophical Society Adyar. In his early years Sri Ram worked under Annie Besant in various capacities. Sri Ram was a teacher at the Besant Theosophical College in Madanapalle, the National School in Bangalore.
