- Dilip Narayan Sardesai (August 8, 1940, Margao, Goa – July 2, 2007, Mumbai) was a former Indian Test cricketer. He was the only Goan-born cricketer to play for India, and was often regarded as India’s best batsman against spin bowling. Born in a Brahmin family, Sardesai made his first mark in cricket in the inter-university Rohinton Baria trophy in 1959-60.
- Bhisham Sahni (8 August 1915 – 11 July 2003) was a Hindi writer, playwright, and actor, most famous for his novel and television screenplay Tamas (“Darkness”), a powerful and passionate account of the Partition of India. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan for literature in 1998, and Sahitya Akademi Fellowship in 2002.
- Kim Jagtiani (born Komila Jagtiani on August 8, 1980) is an Indian Canadian television personality who hosts TV programmes, including regular appearances on Daily Planet for a series entitled India Unleashed. She is also a VJ (video jockey) for Channel V India, hosting Cool Stop, P.O.V. and Club V, and is considered to be a household name in India.
- Samir Subash Naik (born 8 August 1979) is an Indian footballer who plays as a Defender for Dempo SC and India. Naik is part of successful Dempo SC squad which won 2 league titles and reached the semi final of the AFC Cup, he is also a regular for India. Naik started his footballing career at Dempo SC in the I-League in 2005 and remained there sense.

- Ahmed Hoosen Deedat (July 1918 – 8 August 2005) was a South African writer and public speaker of Indian descent. He was best known as a Muslim missionary who held numerous inter-religious public debates with evangelical Christians, as well as video lectures, most of which centred around Islam, Christianity and the Bible.
- Bhagawan Nityananda (November/December, 1897 – August 8, 1961) was an Indian guru. His teachings are published in the “Chidakash Gita”. Nityananda was born in Quilandy (Pandalayini), Kerala, South India. Details about Nityananda’s birth are relatively unknown. According to his disciples, Nityananda was found as an abandoned infant in Tuneri village, Kozhikode, India by a lady named Uniamma Nair.
- Bhupen Khakhar (also spelled Bhupen Khakkar, born Bombay 10 March 1934 – died Baroda 8 August 2003) Bhupen Khakhar was a leading artist in Indian contemporary art. He worked in Baroda, and gained international recognition for his work. Khakhar was a self-trained artist, and started his career as a painter relatively late in his life.
