- Poonam Kaur is an Indian actress and model. She has frequently appeared in Telugu films apart from Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films. Born and brought up in Hyderabad, India, Poonam Kaur did her schooling there as well, before doing fashion designing at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Delhi.
- A. L. Vijay is a Tamil film director. Earlier he worked as an assistant and close associate of director Priyadarshan. His father A. L. Azhagappan was the president of Tamil Nadu Producers Council and appeared in the film Eesan. His brother, Udhaya, has also starred in Tamil films. Prior to directing his last first film, Vijay was a successful ad filmmaker with Venus Ad Films.
- Guru Ram Das (Punjabi: ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮ ਦਾਸ ਜੀ [ɡʊru ɾɑm dɑs]; 1534–1581) was the fourth of the Ten Gurus of Sikhism and was given the title of Sikh Guru on 30 August 1574. Ram Das was born in Chuna Mandi Lahore, Punjab on 24th September 1534[1] to a Sodhi family of the Khatri clan. His father was Hari Das and his mother Anup Devi. His wife was Bibi Bhani, the younger daughter of Guru Amar Das.
- Amjad Ali Khan (Hindi: अमजद अली ख़ान; IAST: Amjad Alī Khān) (born 9 October 1945) is an Indian classical musician who plays the sarod. Khan was born into a musical family and has performed internationally since the 1960s. He was awarded India’s second highest civilian honor, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2001.
- Vivek Kundra (Hindi: विवेक कुंद्रा; born October 9, 1974) is an Indian American administrator who served as the 1st Chief Information Officer of the United States from March, 2009 to August, 2011 under President Barack Obama. He is currently the Executive Vice President of Emerging Markets for Salesforce and a visiting Fellow at Harvard University.
- Dr Anbumani Ramadoss had been the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India from May, 2004 till he resigned his post in April 2009 and is a member of Parliament from the Rajya Sabha he belongs to the Pattali Makkal Katchi. Born on 9 October 1968 in Pondicherry, Anbumani Ramadoss was a student of Madras Medical College and is a doctor by Profession.
- Emmanuvel Devendrar (also called Emmanuvel sekaran) was a schedule caste reformer. He also worked in the Indian army as soldier and discontinued the service. He belongs to Devendra kula vellalar caste. He was murdered on 11 September 1957. His postal stamp was released by the government of India in 2010. His death anniversary day is attended by millions of people in Tamilnadu every year.
- Sumita Sanyal (Bengali: সুমিতা সান্যাল়) is an actress in the Bengali language film industry in India, also known as Tollywood. Sumita Sanyal was born Manjula Sanyal on 9 October 1945 in Darjeeling, Bengal Presidency, British India. Her father was Girija Golkunda Sanyal. Director Bibhuti Laha (of Agradoot) named her Suchorita for his film “Khokhababur Pratyabartan”.
- Zahida Hussain was a Bollywood actress in the 1970s. Her aunt was Bollywood actress Nargis Dutt, and her uncle was character actor Anwar Hussain. She acted in several movies such as Gambler and Prem Pujari with Dev Anand. Zahida later married a businessman and retired from the film industry. She has two sons, one of which, Nilesh Sahaya, has joined the film industry.

- Raghumudri Sri Hari, better known as Srihari (Telugu: శ్రీ హరి) (born 15 August 1964), is an award-winning actor in Tollywood. He started out in Telugu cinema as the antagonist and subsequently went on to do some notable lead roles. Born and bought up in Balanagar, Hyderabad, he is one of most well-known actors in the Telugu film industry.
- Kanshi Ram (Punjabi: ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਰਾਮ ) (March 15, 1934 – October 9, 2006) was an Indian politician. He founded the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), a political party with the stated goal of serving the traditionally lower castes of Indian society (that historically also included untouchables). He transferred the BSP’s leadership to Mayawati.
- Chandrasekhara Menon, better known by his stage name Sankaradi (Malayalam: ശങ്കരാടി; 1924–2001), was an Indian actor. He was a veteran Malayalam comedian and character artiste, who had over 700 Malayalam films to his credit. He was one of the first realistic actors in South Indian cinema.
- Akhtar Hameed Khan (Urdu: اختر حمید خان, pronounced [ˈəxt̪ər ɦəˈmiːd̪ ˈxaːn]; 15 July 1914 – 9 October 1999) was a Pakistani development activist and social scientist credited for pioneering microcredit and microfinance initiatives, farmers’ cooperatives, and rural training programmes in the developing world.
- Harjinder Singh Jinda was a member of a Sikh organization Khalistan Commando Force and one of the two assassins of Arun Vaidya (the Chief of Indian army at the time of Operation Bluestar and architect of Operation Bluestar). He was responsible for three high-profile killings; Arjan Dass, Lalit Maken and Gen. Vaidya.
- Saifuddin Kitchlew (Kashmiri: सैफ़ुद्दीन किचलू (Devanagari), سیف الدین کچلو (Nastaleeq)) (January 15, 1888 – October 9, 1963) was an Indian freedom fighter, barrister and an Indian Muslim nationalist leader. An Indian National Congress politician, he first became Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (Punjab PCC) head and later the General Secretary of the AICC in 1924.

- 1947 -> P. C. Joshi, General Secretary, Communist Party of India (CPI), appealed to all LEFT parties to rally around Nehru to fight for peace.
