National Highways
- Backbone of the road infrastructure.
- They connect every major city of India whether ports, capital of states etc.
- Consists of two, four or more lanes.
- They are owned by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
- They are constructed and managed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) and Public Works Departments (PWDs) of state governments.
Expressways
- They are the highest class roads in India.
- Six to eight lane controlled access road network.
- Expressways are of high quality consisting of modern features like – Access Ramps
– Grade Separation
– Lane Dividers
– Elevated Section
Ganga Expressway
- Length: 594 KM
- Meerut to Prayagraj
- Meerut, Bulanshahar, Hapur, Amroha, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Kannauj, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj
- Approximate: 36,000 Cr.
Yamuna Expressway
- 165 kilometres long Yamuna Expressway
- Begins from Greater Noida to connect Agra to it.
- The expressway would also be a host to Jewar airport which would provide connectivity with the other cities of India as well.
Agra Lucknow Expressway
- It is a 302.22 km long
- 6 lane
- Operational Expressway since February 2017
- It was inaugurated on November 21, 2016
Purvanchal Expressway
- ‘Carrier of development’ for the Purvanchal region
- Lucknow ( Chand Sarai ), Barabanki,Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau, Ghazipur (Haidaria village)
- Estimated cost:Rs 22,494 crores
Delhi Eastern Peripheral Expressway
- It is a 135.6 km long highway.
- This Eastern Peripheral Expressway or National Expressway 2 bypass Delhi and provide the connectivity from Faridabad to Sonipat.
Delhi Meerut Expressway
- Delhi Meerut Expressway:India’s widest 96 km long controlled-access expressway.
- It connects Delhi with Meerut via Dasna in Ghaziabad in India.
- India’s first toll plaza free highway.
ANPR
- Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR):- Automatic number plate recognition is a computer vision practice that allows devices to read license number plates on vehicles quickly and automatically, without any human interaction.
- Hence, ANPR is used to capture and identify any number plate accurately through the use of video or photo footage from cameras.
Noida- Greater Noida Expressway
- Noida- Greater Noida Expressway:This is a 24.5-kilometre long expressway connecting Delhi to Greater Noida and falls under the Taj Economic zone. The expressway is a 24.53 km long six-lane expressway and is one of the busiest ones in Uttar Pradesh.
Allahabad Bypass Expressway
- Allahabad Bypass Expressway:It is an 86 km long expressway and is a part of the Golden Quadrilateral project and National Highway 2. The expressway is a long access-controlled highway.
Upper Ganga Canal Expressway
- This is a 150 km long expressway also called the Hindon Expressway.
- It is planned to connect Bulandshahr to Haridwar.
- 8 lane expressway project but is yet to start.
- The proposed Expressway has been conceptualized by UP Govt. as an Expressway connecting National Capital Region (NCR) with the developments of Western Uttar Pradesh.
