6th Scorpene submarine of Project-75 INS Vagsheer launched in Mumbai -Burning Issues

The sixth Scorpene class submarine,INS Vagsheer, constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited for the Indian Navy launched in Mumbai.
भारतीय नौसेना के लिए मझगांव डॉक शिपबिल्डर्स लिमिटेड द्वारा निर्मित छठी स्कॉर्पीन श्रेणी की पनडुब्बी, INS वाग्शीर, मुंबई में लॉन्च की गई।
INS Vagsheer will now undergo rigorous trials and tests, both in harbour and at sea before it is commissioned into the Navy.
INS वागशीर अब नौसेना में शामिल होने से पहले बंदरगाह और समुद्र दोनों में कठोर परीक्षणों और परीक्षणों से गुजरेगा।

The sixth scorpene submarine of Project-75, INS Vagsheer is named after sandfish which is a deadly deep water sea predator of the Indian Ocean.
प्रोजेक्ट -75 की छठी स्कॉर्पीन पनडुब्बी, आईएनएस वाग्शीर का नाम सैंडफिश के नाम पर रखा गया है जो हिंद महासागर की एक घातक गहरे पानी की समुद्री शिकारी है।
The first submarine ‘Vagsheer’ was commissioned in December 1974.
It was decommissioned in April 1997.
पहली पनडुब्बी ‘वागशीर’ को दिसंबर 1974 में कमीशन किया गया था।
इसे अप्रैल 1997 में बंद कर दिया गया था।
The Mazgaon Dock had been entrusted with the task of building six submarines under the Project-75 programme.

Project 75-परियोजना 75

The main objective of Project – 75 was to acquire 24 submarines.
The project was approved by the Ministry of Defence in 1997.
प्रोजेक्ट -75 का मुख्य उद्देश्य 24 पनडुब्बियों का अधिग्रहण करना था।
इस परियोजना को 1997 में रक्षा मंत्रालय द्वारा अनुमोदित किया गया था।
After Kargil war in 1999, the Indian Government approved a 30-year submarine plan.
The Project – 75 was brought under this new plan.
1999 में कारगिल युद्ध के बाद, भारत सरकार ने 30 साल की पनडुब्बी योजना को मंजूरी दी।
इस नई योजना के तहत परियोजना-75 को लाया गया था।
Under the new plan, two parallel production lines of the submarines were called for.
One was under the already running Project – 75 and the other was under Project – 75I (Project – 75 India).

In 2005, under Project – 75, India signed a transfer of technology contract with the French Naval Company DCNS.

The first two submarines – INS Kalvari and INS Khanderi – were commissioned into the Indian Navy on September 21, 2017 and September 19, 2019.

Scorpene submarines can undertake multifarious types of missions i.e anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, mine laying, area surveillance etc.
स्कॉर्पीन पनडुब्बियां कई तरह के मिशनों को अंजाम दे सकती हैं जैसे कि सतह-विरोधी युद्ध, पनडुब्बी रोधी युद्ध, खुफिया जानकारी इकट्ठा करना, खदान बिछाना, क्षेत्र की निगरानी आदि।

Project 75 I-परियोजना 75 I

This project envisages indigenous construction of submarines equipped with the state-of-the-art Air Independent Propulsion system at an estimated cost of Rs. 43,000 crore.
इस परियोजना में अत्याधुनिक वायु स्वतंत्र प्रणोदन प्रणाली से लैस पनडुब्बियों के स्वदेशी निर्माण की परिकल्पना की गई है जिसकी अनुमानित लागत रु. 43,000 करोड़।
