CAPF All India Rank – 89

Name: Ansal Shrivastava

Study IQ UPSC Pendrive Course Student (Order ID 21174)

In the latest interview with Ansal Shrivastava, CAPF-2017 Rank holder- AIR89, by Study IQ team, we got to know about his strategy, smart efforts, mistakes, motivations and sources that helped him crack one of the toughest exams of all time- CAPF. He has some words of appreciation for the whole team of Study IQ, stating which courses and videos helped him achieve his goal; and some words of inspiration for the aspirants who are going to appear the test this year on 12th August.
Ansal was a student of Sainik School, Nalanda, Bihar where he got the motivation to work for the Armed Forces. He says that it is necessary to know your interests for a particular career since your early days. He finished his graduation in Economics from Shri Aurobindo College, University of Delhi and started his CAPF and Civil Services preparation from the year 2016.
Ansal had appeared for NDA and cleared it four times but unfortunately couldn’t qualify SSB. This did not deter his passion to succeed. He again appeared for CDS and cleared it thrice. This time he didn’t go for SSB. Even though he qualified for CAPF previous time too, he did not get through the interview. Ultimately in the year 2017, he cleared all the four rounds of CAPF exam and passed out with flying colors. He is the third youngest CAPF qualifier. He scored 322 marks in total and has set example for many students who give up after failing once.
When asked about his strategy, sources, online courses and revision ideas, he answered everything in details. According to Ansal, first of all, it is very necessary to keep the changing pattern in my mind. For students going to appear the exam on 12th August 2018, he advises to know the complete syllabus and exam pattern. There are four rounds before you finally qualify the entire test. In the first round, you have to sit for Paper-1(prelims).
There are all total 125 objective questions in this paper. If the minimum cut-off for Paper-1 is met only then is the Paper-2(mains) is checked. The second paper is descriptive in nature which include Essays, Comprehensions, precis writing. Since the paper is descriptive, one needs to practice the writing style. This paper is of 200 marks where at least you need to score 80 out of the total. The essay alone can help you score minimum 50-55 marks which would boost up the total score. For this section, students should always be updated with the Dynamic news i.e. the Current Affairs. He advises the aspirants to read the newspaper Hindu on a daily basis. Somehow if you miss the latest news, you can always check out Study IQ’s Hindu Editorial Analysis on the subscribed YouTube channel.
Ansal himself followed the channel as he found it absolutely beneficial for quick revision. The Interview round is very crucial according to Ansal. Since the interviewers may ask you unexpected questions from any angle, you have to be very attentive about it. He said that most of the questions are asked from DAF(Detailed Application Form). The tip to qualify the interview,by Mr. Shrivastava, is that you should share your DAF among your friends and prepare at least 250 mock questions.
The next important thing is reading the current affairs 15 days prior to the interview. All the news should be thoroughly read since there are high chances of being interrogated about the same. Burning Issues should be focused more. He again thanks the PDF materials he got from Study IQ to cover up the Burning issues within a short time. Since he was interviewed more about topics related to his educational background, he also tips on paying attention to those details too. Finally in the Physical Efficiency Test, one has to go through four physical activities like 100 m race, 500 m race and long jump and shot put event. therefore, aspirants should be physically fit at least twenty days before appearing the practical.

When asked about what courses and books to study, Ansal replies that although there are lot of courses available in the coaching centers as well as on internet he chose to buy the Pendrive course from Study IQ.
Like most other aspirants, Ansal was from a middle class family. The Pendrive course was available to him at a cheaper price. Since the course of Pendrive is financially affordable, he found it a better option than the expensive coaching classes. He had been using the Pen drive course since his graduation second year. The course is compiled, packed with necessary and updated information and handy for revision. The Hindu Editorial Analysis PDFs and YouTube videos were of regular aid to Ansal while revising his lessons. Often students follow different courses if one course doesn’t give them the desired results. Ansal advises strictly against it. Aspirants should stick to one course and brush up their own strategy. Different courses will create lot of confusion.
Therefore a single course will provide concentration and stability for the aspirants. Since there are many tutorial channels on YouTube for CAPF and Civil Services preparation, students should generally watch those channels with updated videos delivered on regular basis. The content of one may be better than the other but the consistency lacks. therefore, pay attention to the channel that gives you new and regular videos. Study IQ’s channel on YouTube are always Ansal’s favorite. he used to devote a fixed time in watching the Hindu Editorial Analysis by Study IQ free videos.
It is not necessary to study for long hours at one stretch. Aspirants should have a defined routine where they can distribute their time in quality reading. For example, videos should be watched for a limited time, mock test series should be solved and chapter should be revised regularly. After reading the Hindu newspaper daily, watch the Hindu Editorial Analysis videos by Study IQ. It will help in memorizing things and getting a better understanding of the topics.
Ansal is very thankful to the whole team of Study IQ. He expresses his gratitude here
On being asked why would he recommend Study IQ to the aspirants, he says that since Pendrive course from Study IQ delivers all the information in a compact manner it is very feasible to revise. All the courses are provided inside one small device. The videos from channel of Study IQ are always regular and updated. he says that the teachers share extra information and additional background knowledge about every particular course which are generally not given in one book. Instead of flipping the pages of several books and wasting time, watch the videos and easily understand the topics.
Aspirants who are very talented but unavailable financially, should rely on Study IQ’s course of Pendrive. A lot of money is saved and the course material remains the best. The Current Affairs and Burning Issues from the free PDF of Study IQ has always been of a great help to him. Aspirants should follow the same. You can also study the UPSC mock test questions and previous year questions for every government exam.

Lastly he gives a short yet strong message to the future CAPF and Civil Service Exam aspirants. Although you may suffer setback many times, you should not loose courage. It is the strong determination that will guide you to success. Aspirants should always try to stay calm and focused. Since few days are left for the exam, do not try to mug up new things. Instead revise the old lessons and be through with the already studied chapter. He signs off with best luck to the hardworking aspirants.
