• The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, will visit Madhya Pradesh (Gwalior) tomorrow (February 11, 2018) to grace a function, organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Haryana Chapter to declare Gwalior as ‘Divyang friendly district’ and to distribute artificial limbs.
• He will also deliver the 4th Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Memorial Lecture at ITM University, Gwalior, and grace the convocation of Jiwaji University, before returning to Delhi.

• The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that India is capital for spirituality in the entire world and we should feel proud of our cultural heritage.
• He further said that Munis travel across the country to spread the light of Gyan and it is our culture to respect, follow and take inspiration from our gurus.
• He was addressing the gathering after performing the 88th Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava to Bahubali Gommateshwara, at Shravanabelagola in Karnataka, today.
• The Vice President said that the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava is considered as the most auspicious occasion that commences once in every 12 years.
• This celebration will inspire all of us to create a peaceful, harmonious and blissful world, he added.
• He further said that we should never feel shy of dharma, and said ‘Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitaha’ – Dharma protects those who uphold or protect Dharma.
• Everyone must do something to the society, he added.
• The Vice President lauded the efforts and contribution of Jain Gurus and other members to the society.
• He further said that Jain community has been showing way for us to do good to society. The path shown by Jain saints can lead to the harmonious, peaceful and prosperous India we all wish to build, he added.
• The Vice President said that attending to basic human needs and avoiding wastage as well as recognising and respecting diversity and pluralism is a part of our national psyche.
• He questioned what else can be more important for the mankind to coexist peacefully on the earth than this preaching? If one can adopt this principle, we can also accelerate development and that development can be ‘inclusive and sustainable’, he added.
• He complimented Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of Shravanabelagola Mutt for conducting the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava for the fourth time in a row.
• The Vice President released 108 Books published by Bharatiya Jnanpith belonging to the time of King Bahubali who is the son of First Jain Tirthankara Rishabhadeva.

AYUSH 

• Two-day International Conference on Unani Medicine.
• ‘Lifestyle diseases are one of the major health challenges of the country, an area where integration of traditional and conventional medicine systems can play an important role’, said Dr Jitender Singh.
• Organized by the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) as a part of Unani Day celebration.
• Dr. Singh emphasized all-round development of indigenous systems of medicine with special focus on holistic management of diseases.
• He opined that all the physicians irrespective of system of medicine whether modern or traditional may be co-located for addressing the requirement of patients in holistic manner.
• Hakim Ajmal Khan, whose 150th Birth Anniversary on 11th February is being celebrated as Unani Day; he said that contribution made by him to the traditional medicine and to the nation was remarkable.

Ministry of Communications

• India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) Expansion Programme continues to make brisk progress and a nation-wide roll-out is scheduled beginning April 2018.
• No decision has been taken to revise the timelines as reported in some sections of the media on Tuesday, 06th February 2018.
• Once the proposed expansion is completed, IPPB will be providing the largest financial inclusion network in the country, covering both urban as well as rural hinterland with ability to provide digital payment services at the doorstep with the help of Postmen and Gramin Dak Sewaks (GDS).

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his historic visit to Palestine today held talks with President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.
• In a joint press confernce after the talks, Mr. Modi assured Mr. Abbas tha India is bound by a promise to take care of the interests of the people of Palestine.
“फलस्तीन के हितों को िमारा समर्थन, िमारी विदेश नीतत मेंसदैि ऊपर रिा िै ननिरत, नविचल। इसललए आज यिाां रमल्लाि मेंप्रेजजडेंट मोिम्मद नब्बास कोजी जोकक भारत के बिुतपुरानेलमत्र िैं, उनके सार् खडे िोकर मुझे खु

• The Prime Minister said both the counties share historic and strong ties which have stood the test of time.
• He asserted that Palestine has continuously shown exemplary courage in tough times and said India hopes to see an independent Palestine soon.
• Mr Modi also expressed happiness that both countries are moving ahead with development cooperation.

• The Prime Minister announced that India is aiding construction of an Institute of Diplomacy in Palestine.
• Mr Modi also thanked President Abbas for conferring on him the Grand Collar of the state of Palestine, which is the highest order given to foreign dignitaries.
• He said, it is an honour for India and a symbol of Palestine’s friendship.
• In his address, the Palestinian President said, Mr Modi’s visit reaffirms the depth of relationship the two countries share that will contribute to further development and advancement of bilateral ties.

• Mr Abbas said, the talks with Mr Modi were fruitful and constructive.
“We affirms the depth of historical relationships, the solid relationships which tie our countries
and which will contribute undoubtedly to further development and advancement of the deep seated friendship ties between our people”
• On the Israel-Palestine relationship, Mr Abbas said, Palestine relies on India’s role as an international force and its role in the non-alignment movement, in a way that is conducive to the desired peace in the region.
• India and Palestine signed six Memoranda of Understanding in different areas. The MoU include setting up of an India-Palestine Super-specialty hospital at Beit Sahour in Bethelhem Governorate, construction of an India-Palestine Centre for Empowering women and setting up of a new National Printing Press at Ramallah.

• After concluding his tour to Palestine, Mr Modi has reached Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates as part of his three nation visit.
• He was received by Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
• Amidst ceremonial welcome and hectic engagements , Prime Minister Modi has arrived in Abu Dhabi on his second visit to the United Arab Emirates.
• In the evening , Prime Minister Modi will meet the top leadership of the country for bilateral discussions and sign a number of Agreements and MoUs to further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and UAE.

• A special banquet is being organized in the honour of Prime Minister Modi by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
• Prime Minister is scheduled to address the 6th edition of the World Government Summit on the inaugural day.
• More than 140 countries are expected to participate in the event.
• India has been designated as the Guest of Honour country at this Summit.
