Shruti Haasan (born January 28, 1986) is an Indian actress, singer and music composer who works in South Indian film industry and Bollywood. Her parents are noted actors, Kamal Haasan and Sarika. As a child artist, she sang in films and appeared in a guest role, before making her adult acting debut in the 2009 action drama, Luck
Lala Lajpat Rai (28 January 1865 – 17 November 1928) was an Indian author, freedom fighter and politician who is chiefly remembered as a leader in the Indian fight for freedom from the British Raj. He was popularly known as Punjab Kesari (Punjabi:The Lion of Punjab) or Sher-e-Punjab (Urdu:The Lion of Punjab) meaning the same and was part of the Lal Bal Pal trio.
Vinod Khosla  (born 28 January 1955) is an Indian-born American businessman and venture capitalist. Khosla was one of the co-founders of Sun Microsystems, where he served as its first CEO and Chairman in the early 1980s. In 1986, he became a general partner of the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, where he remained through the early 2000s.
Raja Ramanna (January 28, 1925 – September 24, 2004), D.Phil., was an Indian nuclear scientist and a prominent physicist, is best known for his leadership directing the research integral for the development of Indian nuclear programme in its early stages. Having started and joined the nuclear programme in 1964, Ramanna worked under Homi Jehangir Bhabha, and later directed this program in 1967.
Sir (Herbert) Stanley Reed, KBE (28 January 1872 – 17 January 1969) was a British Conservative Party politician and an important figure in the media of India in the early 20th century. Reed edited The Times of India from 1907 until 1924 and received correspondence from the major figures of India such as Mahatma Gandhi. In all he lived in India for fifty years.

Omkar Prasad Nayyar (16 January 1926 – 28 January 2007) was an Indian film music director and composer born in Lahore, India, now in modern day Pakistan. O. P. Nayyar ( “O.P.” ) started his career as a movie music composer by composing the background score for the movie Kaneez (1949). Aasmaan (1952), produced by Dalsukh.
Sohrab Modi (1897–1984) was an Indian Parsi stage and film actor, director and producer. His films include Khoon Ka Khoon (1935), a version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Sikandar, Pukar, Prithvi Vallabh, Jhansi ki Rani, Mirza Ghalib, and Nausherwan-e-dil (1957). His films always carried a message of strong commitment to social and national issues.
Patricia Wentworth (born Dora Amy Elles; November 10, 1878 – January 28, 1961) was a British crime fiction writer. She was born in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, India (then the British Raj). She was educated privately and at Blackheath High School in London. After the death of her first husband, George F. Dillon, in 1906, she settled in Camberley, Surrey.
Pochiah Krishnamurthy   (July 12, 1947, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh – January 28, 1999, Hyderabad) was an Indian cricketer who played in 5 Tests and one ODI in 1971.
Gangadhar V. Chittal (1923–1987) was a recipient of Karnataka Sahitya Academy award. He held several administrative positions for the Government of India and audited several Indian Embassies and Consulates. During the Quit India struggle (1942), Chittal was debarred from his college. Born in Hanehalli.

Notable Events:

1846 British forcibly separate Kashmir from the Sikhs and sell it to the Maharaja of Jammu for 1,000,000 pounds after the Battle of Allwal.
1865 Lala Lajpat Rai ‘Punjab Kesari’, great valiant freedom fighter, social reformer, humanitarian and lawyer, was born in Dhudike village of Ferozepur district, Punjab.
1898 Nivedita, an Irish lady of Scottish descent, came to India.
1902 Gandhiji left for Rangoon visit. Stays for a month with Gokhale at Calcutta. Returns to Rajkot and settles down to practise.
