Abhinav Singh Bindra (born September 28, 1982) is an Indian shooter from Zirakpur, Mohali, Punjab and is the current World and Olympic champion in the 10 m Air Rifle event. By winning the gold in the 10 m Air Rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he became the first Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Olympic Games.

Ranbir Kapoor (born 28 September 1982) is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood movies. Making his acting debut in the 2007 film Saawariya, for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut, Kapoor earned positive notice for his performance in Wake Up Sid (2009).

Lata Mangeshkar (born September 28, 1929) is a singer from India. She is one of the best-known and most respected playback singers in India. Mangeshkar’s career started in 1942 and has spanned over six and a half decades. She has recorded songs for over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages, though primarily in Hindi.

Puri Jagannadh  (born 28 September 1966) is an Indian film director, screenwriter and producer, prominent in Telugu cinema. He is also a three-time Nandi Award recipient. He has made many successful films such as Badri, Itlu Sravani Subramanyam, Idiot, Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi, Shivamani, Desamuduru (2007), Pokiri, Chirutha (2007) and Business Man.

Saraswathi Gora (1912–2006) was an Indian social activist. Notable as the leader of the Atheist Centre for many years, she campaigned against untouchability and the caste system. Born on September 28, 1912 at Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh, she got married at the age of ten to Goparaju Ramachandra Rao. Along with her husband.

Mulk Raj Anand (12 December 1905 – 28 September 2004) was an Indian writer in English, notable for his depiction of the lives of the poorer castes in traditional Indian society. One of the pioneers of Indo-Anglian fiction, he, together with R. K. Narayan, Ahmed Ali and Raja Rao, was one of the first India-based writers in English to gain an international readership.

C.H. Mohammed Koya (born at Atholi, Calicut July 15, 1927 – 28 September 1983) was an Indian politician and the tenth Chief Minister of Kerala. He served from October 12, 1979 to December 1, 1979. C.H. Mohammed Koya was born on July 15, 1927 at Atholi in Calicut district of Kerala. He was the son of Payyampunathil Ali Musliyar, a countryside doctor and Unani specialist, and Mariyumma.

Zia Mohiuddin Dagar (14 March 1929 – 28 September 1990), popularly known as Z. M. Dagar, was a North Indian (Hindustani) classical musician, one of the 19th generation of Dagar family dhrupad musicians. He was largely responsible for the revival of the rudra vina as a solo concert instrument.

Shivaji V (22 November 1941-28 September 1946) was the last Maharaja of Kolhapur from the Bhonsle dynasty, reigning from 1941 to 1946. He was from the Satara branch of the Bhonsle dynasty, and had been appointed to the vacant Kolhapur throne from birth, as Rajaram II had only left a daughter.
