EARLY LIFE
- Sanna Mirella Marin was born on November 16 1985 in Helsinki.The new Finnish premier grew up in a rented apartment with her single mum who was in a same-sex relationship.
- She eventually attended Tampere Univesity, and is the first person in her family to be a graduate.Ms Marin now lives with her partner Markus Räikkönen and they have a 22-month-old daughter.

- She is seen as a politician who will appeal to the younger generation, because of her candid use of Instagram.She once shared a photo of herself breastfeeding her baby on Instagram.
- Marin joined the Social Democratic Youth in 2006, and served as its first Vice President from 2010 to 2012.Marin was a candidate in the 2008 Finnish municipal elections, but was not elected.
- In the 2012 elections, she was elected to the City Council of Tampere at the age of 27. She was the chairperson of the City Council from 2013 to 2017.

- In 2017, she was re-elected to the City Council. She is also a member of the Assembly of the Council of Tampere Region.She was also a member of the Pirkanmaa Regional Council from 2013 to 2016.
- Marin was elected second deputy chairperson of the Social Democratic Party in 2014.In 2015 at the age of 30, she was elected to the Parliament of Finland as a MP. Four years later, she was re-elected. On 6 June 2019, she became the Minister of Transport and Communications.

- In December 2019, she was nominated by the Social Democratic Party to succeed Antti Rinne as the Prime Minister of Finland.
- Finland’s Social Democrats, who lead the five-party coalition government, had the job of selecting the next prime minister.
- SANNA Marin was elected as Finland’s Prime Minister on December 8 2019.The 34-year-old is now the world’s youngest serving premier.
POLITICS
- Marin will head a five-party, center-left coalition. All of her four coalition partners are led by women and three of them are in their early 30s.
- The new government, consisting of 12 female and 7 male ministers according to media reports, will be nominated on Tuesday.
- Marin, who has spoken about growing up in a disadvantaged family, is a left-winger within her party and a strong defender of Finland’s generous welfare state

- Four of those women are under 35: Katri Kulmuni, 32, of the Centre Party; Maria Ohisalo, 34, of the Green Party; Li Andersson, 32, of the Left Alliance; and Anna-Maja Henriksson, 55, of the Swedish People’s Party.
