• Lakhs of aspirants are anxious about appearing for UPSC’s preliminary exams for civil services due to the COVID19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.

4. Combine Medical Services Examination Notification

Problems being Faced by aspirants

• The Lockdown has resulted in shutting down of coaching classes, libraries, hostels.
• Many have returned home, some stayed back are ‘stuck’ in PG accommodations/rented rooms in cities like Delhi, Hyderabad etc
• Lack of books, study materials etc has severely hampered their preparation.
• Interviews for CSE 2019 were postponed. The future of about 2000 candidates is in limbo – Pre or Interview?

My Assessment

1. Exam will be postponed according to the length of Lockdown
2. If Covid19 spread is controlled by April End, exam can be held on time.
3. Extra centres may be used by UPSC to follow social distancing measures.
4. Another window to withdraw applications can be given to manage exam centres in an efficient way.
5. Option to change centre.

What Should a ‘serious’ aspirant do right now?

• This is a ‘GOLDEN PERIOD’ which has been given to you by circumstances.

1. Finish the Syllabus !
2. Revise, revise and then revise again.
3. Attempt mock tests online.
4. If you are already well prepared for pre, read those ‘suggested reading’ books for an extra edge.
5. Start preparing for mains answer writing .
