- In the city of Wuhan, where the virus originated at the end of last year, Chinese authorities also reported five new cases on Sunday, the city’s highest number of new infections since 11 March.
Cases in Wuhan and Jilin
- An untraced coronavirus outbreak in a Chinese city near the Russian border and a spate of new cases in Wuhan has prompted fears of a fresh wave of infections in China.
- Chinese authorities reclassified Shulan, a city near the Russian and North Korean borders, as high risk, after a cluster of cases connected to a woman with no known history of travel or exposure to the virus.

11 Million in 10 Days {11 Lakh in 1 Day}
- “Each district shall make arrangements for nucleic acid screening for all members within 10 days,” said a Wuhan government notice.
- Testing would be done by third-party companies and some hospital and disease control employees.
- Each district is responsible for coming up with its own plan based on the size of their population and whether or not there is currently an active outbreak in the district.
- Older people and densely populated communities should be prioritised when it comes to testing.
Lines form as officials say, ‘Leave no one behind.’
- Wuhan residents need not pay at all, according to local government notices and Chinese media reports.
Is it even possible?
- Wuhan University director suggested that a large percentage of Wuhan’s population – around 3-5 million – had already been tested, and Wuhan was “capable” of testing the remaining 6-8 million in a 10-days period.

Peng Zhiyong, director of the intensive care unit of the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University: “testing everyone would be costly, so the testing is very likely to focus on key groups and communities such as close contacts of patients and their family members, medical staff, the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions.”
Is it even required?
