• Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s brother-in-law Vishal Kirti has announced the launch of a website and page, called Nepometer, and rated Alia Bhatt’s upcoming movie Sadak 2 as 98 per cent ‘nepotistic’.

• Captioned ‘Fight Bollywood Nepotism with Information’, the Nepometer provides ratings to movies based on whether the crew in the movie has people who are from the film industry or if they are those who have no connections to anyone in the film industry.

SADAK 2

• Launched on 25 June, the webpage was created by Mayuresh Krishna, an architect at VMware, which is a software that powers apps and services.
• The first film the page rated was Sadak 2, which is yet to be released. According to the page, Sadak 2 was 98 per cent nepotistic. 
• The page stated it rated the movie based on five categories — producer, director, lead artists, writer and supporting artists, and found that 4 out of 5 of the categories had people who had connections to families in the Hindi movie industry.

NEPOTISM

• According to the page, director and writer of the movie is Mahesh Bhatt, who is the son of Nanabhai Bhatt (a doctor).
• The lead cast has Alia Bhatt (Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter), Aditya Roy Kapur (producer Siddarth Roy Kapur’s brother), Sanjay Dutt (son of actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis), Pooja Bhatt (Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter) and Soni Razdan (Mahesh Bhatt’s wife). The producer of the movie is Mukesh Bhatt (Mahesh Bhatt’s brother).
• The only person who did not have any film family connection is Gulshan Grover, who has a role of a supporting actor.

NEPOMETER

• The post further said, “When #nepometer is high, it’s time to boycott Bollywood.”
