Air India Express Flight Crashes

Air India Express aircraft from Dubai to Kozhikode with 191 onboard crashed after overshooting the runway and going into the valley after landing at Karipur Airport.

A tabletop runway is a runway that is located on the top of a plateau or hill with one or both ends adjacent to a steep precipice which drops into a deep gorge.
This type of runway creates an optical illusion which requires a very precise approach by the pilot. Such type of runways are known for their beauty.

According to local residents, The flight fell into 35 feet deep slope.
“Dubai-Kozhikode Air India flight (IX-1344) skidded during landing at Karipur Airport at around 45 pm today,“ Kondotty Police told news agency ANI.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter.
According to initial reports, the pilot of the aircraft- Deepak Vasant Sathe died in the mishap and the condition of the co-pilot is believed to be critical.
The Cockpit and the front door of the flight were completely damaged.

In the video, Taneja alleged the airline has asked its pilots to do 98% of landings in “Flap 3” mode, which allows it to save fuel.
He said if a pilot does not do 98% of landings in “Flap 3” mode, the airline considers it a violation of its standard operating procedure (SOP).
