- Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam ( pronunciation (help·info); born 15 October 1931) usually referred to as Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, is an Indian scientist and administrator who served as the 11th President of India. Kalam was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu and completed his studies in aerospace engineering at Madras Institute of Technology (MIT – Chennai).
- Mira Nair (born October 15, 1957) is an Indian film director and producer based in New York. Her production company is Mirabai Films. She was educated at Delhi University and Harvard University. Her debut feature film, Salaam Bombay! (1988), won the Golden Camera award at the Cannes Film Festival and also earned the nomination for Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
- Prannoy L Roy, Ph.D (Bengali: প্রনয রায) (born October 15, 1949) is an Indian journalist and media personality. He is the founder and Executive Chairperson of New Delhi Television (NDTV). Prannoy Roy was born in Calcutta to a Bengali father (“Hurricane” Roy) who was the chief executive of the Indian unit of a British company and mother who was a teacher.
- Victor Banerjee (Bengali: ভিক্টর ব্যানার্জী, Hindi: विक्टर बनर्जी) (born 15 October 1946) is an Indian actor who appears in Hindi, Bengali and English language films. He has also appeared on a number of TV series on Indian television. He has worked for prominent directors like Jerry London, Shyam Benegal, Satyajit Ray, Ram Gopal Varma, Roman Polanski, James Ivory, Mrinal Sen and David Lean.
- Ali Fazal (Hindi: अली फज़ल, born 15 October 1986) is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood movies and on stage. Ali Fazal’s acting career started from an early age. He spent a short time living in Saudi Arabia with his parents as well. In high school he attend The Doon School, Dehradun, and performed on stage for the first time. He began his performances at the age of 16.
- A. Bhimsingh or Bhim Singh (1924–1978) was a film maker, producer, editor and writer from the Tamil Film Indusry. He has directed films in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi. He was born on October 15, 1924. His film career started as an assistant editor with the film making duo Krishnan-Panju, in the late 1940s. He became assistant director and then promoted as director.
- Meera Sanyal (née Meera Hiranandani, born 15 October 1961) is a banking professional in India, who was an independent candidate in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from the Mumbai South constituency. She is the President of the Indian Liberal Group, a think tank and a non-governmental organization working towards good governance in India.

- Sai Baba of Shirdi (Unknown – October 15, 1918), also known as Shirdi Sai Baba (Marathi: शिर्डीचे श्री साईबाबा, Urdu: شردی سائیں بابا), was an Indian guru, yogi, and fakir who is regarded by his Hindu and Muslim devotees as a saint. Many Hindu devotees – including Hemadpant, who wrote the famous Shri Sai Satcharitra – consider him an incarnation of Lord Krishna.
- Om Shivpuri (Hindi: ओम शिवपुरी, died 15 October 1990) was an Indian theatre actor-director and character actor in Hindi films. A National School of Drama, New Delhi alumni, Om Shivpuri became the first chief of the National School of Drama Repertory Company (1964) and one of its actors; he later founded an important theatre group of its era, in New Delhi: Dishantar.
- Talwinder Singh Parmar (February 26, 1944-October 15, 1992), born in village Panshta (Panchhat), district Kapurthala, Punjab, India, was a highranking member of the Sikh militant group Babbar Khalsa. He belonged to the Sikh Rajput community. Parmar carried out fighting from outside India founding the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) in Vancouver, Canada in 1979.
- Baba Kanshi Ram (11 July 1882 – 15 October 1943) was an Indian poet and independence activist from the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Kanshi Ram got married at a very early age of seven to Sarasvati Devi who, at that time, was five. He went to the village school but could not study any further. He lost his parents within a span of one year when he was 13 years old.
- John Maxwell Batten (28 February 1853 – 15 October 1917) was a rugby union fullback who played club rugby for Cambridge University and international rugby for England. Batten was born in 1848, in Almora, India, the second son of John Hallet Batten a member of the Indian Civil Service. Batten was educated at Haileybury School, before matriculating to St John’s College, Cambridge in 1871.
- Suryakant Tripathi ‘Nirala’ (Hindi: सूर्यकांत त्रिपाठी ‘निराला’) (February 21, 1899 – October 15, 1961) was one of the most famous figures of the modern Hindi literature. He was a poet, novelist, essayist and story-writer. He also drew many sketches.
