Narendra Damodardas Modi (born 17 September 1950) is the current Prime minister of the India. Maqbool Fida Husain Mar Fad Hussain 17 September 1915 – 9 June 2011 commonly known as MF, was an Indian-born Qatari eminent painter. Husain was associated with Indian modernism in the 1940s.

Erode Venkata Ramasamy (17 September 1879 – 24 December 1973), affectionately called by his followers as Periyar, Thanthai Periyar or E. V. R., was a businessman, politician, Indian independence and social activist, who started the Self-Respect Movement or the Dravidian Movement and proposed the creation of an independent state called Dravida Nadu comprising South India.

Madras Rajagopala Radhakrishnan Naidu (b. 14 April 1907 – 17 September 1979), popularily known by his stagename M. R. Radha was an Indian film actor and politician. He was given the title of “Nadigavel” for his acting prowess. After a successful career on stage in his early years, he acted in films from the 1930s to the 1970s, and then, giving up films.

Thiruvarur Viruttacala Kalyanasundaram,  (1883–September 17, 1953), better known by his Tamil initials Thiru Vi Ka (“Mr. V.K.”), was a Tamil scholar, essayist and activist. He is esteemed for the strong humanism of his essays, the analytical depth of his commentaries on classical Tamil literature and philosophy, and the clear, fluid style of his prose.

Hasrat Jaipuri (April 15, 1922 – September 17, 1999) was a Hindi and Urdu poet and film lyricist in Hindi films, where he won the Filmfare Awards for Best Lyricist twice. Jaipuri was born Iqbal Husain in Jaipur, where he studied English till medium level, and then acquired his taalim in Urdu and Persian from his paternal grandfather, Fida Husain.

‘Kalamandalam Haridas(1946–2005), was a renowned Kathakali musician noted for his evocative rendition of kathakali padams or the ´spoken word´of the charecters in Kathakali. Though a product of Kalamandalam, in later years (mostly after death), people mention him as Venmani Haridas.

Gerald Aste (30 July 1900 – 17 September 1961) was an English born Indian cricketer. He played eleven first-class matches for various teams in India between 1922 and 1936. Born in Beckenham, South London, England, Aste made his first-class debut in January 1922, playing for the Europeans in the annual Madras Presidency Match.
