Vijayakanth (born 25 August 1952 as Vijayaraj Prabhakar Alagarswami) is an Indian actor and politician. He is the founder of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam and a Member of Legislative Assembly representing Rishivandiyam, Tamil Nadu, India. Vijayakanth was born as Vijayaraj on 25 August 1952 in Tirumangalam, Madurai to K. N. Alagarswami and Andal in a Thottia Naicker family.

Rajiv Kapoor (born 25 August 1960) is an Indian film actor, producer, director and a member of the famous Kapoor Family. He is the youngest son of famous actor/director Raj Kapoor. He had a short stint in the Hindi film industry, acting in only 13 films. His first film was Ek jaan hain hum (1983), with Divya Rana, Shammi Kapoor, Pran, and Gulshan Grover.

Muzammil Ibrahim  (born 25 August 1980) is an Indian model, originally from state of Jammu & Kashmir. He won the Gladrags Manhunt Contest in 2003. He also won the Rashtrapati Award for bravery (1994) (Hindi: Jeevan Raksha Padak) for saving a boy from drowning in 1992.

Monica  (25 August 1987) is an Indian film actress, who predominantly stars in Tamil language films. A child artist in the early 1990s, she mostly appeared in supporting roles, before essaying lead roles from the late 2000s on. She is probably best known for performances in the films Azhagi,.

Roma Asrani (born August 25, 1984) is an Indian model-turned-actress who works mainly in Malayalam-language films. She made her début in the Telugu film Mr. Errababu in 2005. She has acted in Tamil and Kannada films too. Roma Asrani was born into a Hindu Sindhi family from Delhi, who later settled in Chennai. Her father Muralidhar and mother Madhu run a wholesale jewellery shop in Chennai.

Death Anniversaries on 25th August

John Morrison Birch (May 8, 1918 – August 25, 1945) was an American military intelligence officer and a Baptist missionary in World War II who was shot by armed supporters of the Communist Party of China. Some politically conservative groups in the United States consider him to be a martyr and the first victim of the Cold War.

Ajit Vachani (1951 – 25 August 2003) was an Indian film and television actor. He had worked in many notable Hindi films as a character actor, including Mr. India (1987), Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1993). In all he acted in over 50 Hindi films, besides three Sindhi movies.

Bhai Gurdas (1551 – 25 August 1636) was a Punjabi Sikh writer, historian, preacher and religious figure. He was the original scribe of the Guru Granth Sahib and a companion of four of the Sikh Gurus. Bhai Gurdas was born in 1551 in Goindwal, a small village in the Punjab.\

Adolph Tidemand (1814–1876) was a noted Norwegian romantic nationalism painter. Among his best known paintings are Haugianerne (The Haugeans; 1852) and Brudeferd i Hardanger (The Bridal Procession in Hardanger;1848), painted in collaboration with Hans Gude.

Pandit Raghunath Panigrahi (born 10 August 1934) is a famous Indian classical singer and music director. A noted vocalist of Gita Govinda, he left a promising career in film music in Chennai, to provide vocal support in his wife, Sanjukta Panigrahi, legendary Orissi performances and also a composer.

 25-August-1917 The first significant step towards the Indianization of the Army was initiated when seven selected Indians, serving in the Army, were granted King’s Commission in the Infantry and the Cavalry. Before the World War ended, two more Indians, who previously held temporary commissions, were granted King’s Commission.

25-August-1948 Jana Gana Mana to be the provisional National Anthem till Constituent Assembly made a final decision.

 25-August-1959 Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister, declares in New Delhi that India will defend Bhutan and Sikkim if attacked by China.
