KAMAT
- Director-actor Nishikant Kamat passed away on Monday, 17 August, in Hyderabad’s AIG Hospital, after a battle with liver cirrhosis. He was 50.
- In a statement, AIG Hospital said that Kamat was admitted to AIG Hospitals on 31 July 2020 with complaints of fever and excessive fatigue. It was diagnosed that he was suffering from liver cirrhosis for the past two years.
DEATH
- Ajay Devgn, who worked with the filmmaker in Hindi remake of Drishyam, tweeted, “My equation with Nishikant was not just about Drishyam, a film which he directed with Tabu and me. It was an association that I cherished. He was bright; ever-smiling. He has gone too soon. RIP Nishikant.”
LIFE
- Nishikant Kamat (17 June 1970 – 17 August 2020). His debut film, Dombivali Fast earned him accolades in Marathi cinema, as it went on to become the biggest Marathi film of the year.
- His Bollywood debut project was based upon the 2006 Mumbai Bombings, titled, Mumbai Meri Jaan, which was filmed in Hindi. He also played a negative role in the movie Rocky Handsome.
- Kamat was an alumnus of Mumbai’s Wilson College and Ramnarain Ruia College where he rose to prominence in the amateur theatre circuit.
