- Recently, the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2020 was released by ITU (International Telecommunication Union), Indian has moved up 37 places and currently ranked tenth (10th).
ITU
- International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is a “United Nations” specialized agency for information and communication technologies.
- ITU was founded in 1865 as the International Telegraph Union, making it among the oldest international organizations. It became operational to facilitate international connectivity in communications networks.
- ITU is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

- ITU promotes the shared global use of the radio spectrum, facilitates international cooperation in assigning satellite orbits, works to improve telecommunication infrastructure in the developing world.
- ITU is also active in the areas of broadband Internet, wireless technologies, aeronautical and maritime navigation, radio astronomy, satellite-based meteorology, TV broadcasting, and next-generation networks.
- Currently, India is a member of ITU Council till 2022. India was elected in 2019. India has remained a regular member of ITU since 1952.
