COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
RESPONSE
- “We welcome and wholeheartedly support the government’s decision to promote Make in India and AtmanirbharBharat. We are fully committed to promote India made products and the manufacturing sector in the country. We have already initiated discussions with our sellers, merchant partners on the next steps to drive this initiative further,” said a Paytm spokesperson.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
- Under WTO rules Indiacannotsimply ban Chinese goods from entering Indian market
- So in a free market where the consumer has all the option, the best thing we can do is to inform the consumer what he is buying and what is the country of origin
INDIA’S TRADE DEFICIT WITH CHINA

- Ultimately if India wants to reduce the consumption of Chinese goods in India, we must produce more Made in India goods that can compete with Chinese goods
