- Elections to local bodies in rural areas in Andhra Pradesh, known as gram panchayats, were held in four phases on February 9, 13, 17 and 21.
- The polling percentage for all four phases combined was about 81 per cent.

- The AP government continued to oppose Ramesh Kumar, who proposed to hold the gram panchayat elections. AP govt contended that the Covid-19 situation was not conducive to hold elections.
- However, SEC Ramesh Kumar issued the poll notification to hold the polls in four phases.
- SEC complained that district officials did not cooperate with him by abstaining from video conferences and meetings.

- Incidents of violence marred the elections.
- Police resorted to lathicharge at a couple of places in Guntur district.
- In Sattenapalli constituency, agents of rival candidates clashed with each other inside a polling station.
- At Mutluru village near Guntur, a polling agent attempted to immolate himself after rivals allegedly thrashed him inside a polling station.
- In the Kuppam Assembly constituency, which is represented by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. YSRCP candidates won 73 out of 87 panchayats.
- Chandrababu Naidu, has complained to the State Election Commission alleging mass manipulation of the election results.
