Is Canada justified in backing farmers?
- Yesss…
- Farmers are protesting peacefully which is a constitutional right.
- India is a democracy.
- Indian authorities are pursuing an openly hostile approach towards the protesting farmers. Usage of Tear Gas Shells and Water Cannons on a peaceful protest is a human rights issue as well.
- “We’ve seen some ill-informed comments by Canadian leaders relating to farmers in India. These are unwarranted especially when pertaining to internal affairs of a democratic country,” the MEA spokesperson said.
- “It’s also best that diplomatic conversations aren’t misrepresented for political purposes,” he added.
