Chambal Expressway
- Chambal Expressway is a proposed Six-lane expresswayin the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and
- The highway will be laid alongside the Chambal River.
- It will connect Kota in Rajasthan to Etawah in Uttar Pradesh via Sheopur and Morena districts.
- The proposed expressway will cost Rupees 8,250 Crores

Chambal Exp. – Connectivity

- Golden Quadrilateral’s Delhi-Kolkata corridor
- North-South Corridor
- East-West Corridor
- Delhi-Mumbai -Expressway
- It will provide an alternate route from Kanpur to Kota through Madhya Pradesh.
- Stressing on the need to bring down the cost, Nitin Gadkari said royalty and tax exemptions on the project material will save more than Rs 1,000 crore.
- He suggested that chief ministers of the states through which the road will pass should chair State-level High Powered Committee meetings to sort all state-specific issues which will facilitate faster implementation of the project.
- Madhya Pradesh has already exempted royalty on minerals for this project.
- The states will share the Rs 650 crore land acquisition cost.
Who will be benefitted?
- The expressway could be a game changer for tribals and poor living in the far-flung areas of Chambal region which is considered as one of the most backward areas in the country.

- Will help in industrialisation and development of the Chambal division of Madhya Pradesh
- Logistics parks on the lines of multi-modal logistics parks being constructed in Indore, Jabalpur and Jaipur.

- While highways / expressways constitute only about 1.7 % of the length of all roads, they carry about 40 % of the road traffic.
