  • It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis.
  • National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.
  • The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and universities all over India.
  • The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades.
  • The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course.

  • scheduled airline (shipping for Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands also) for a period of five years from the date of commencement of commercial production / operation.
  • The Freight Subsidy Scheme (FSS), 2013, which replaced the Transport Subsidy Scheme, 1971, was in operation in all 8 States of North Eastern Region, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, J&K, Darjeeling District of West Bengal, Andaman &Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep islands.
  • The Freight Subsidy Scheme (FSS), 2013 has been discontinued with effect from 22.11.2016.
  • However, the industrial units registered under these schemes during their currency, are eligible for the benefits of the scheme for the period specified therein
  • While the inland transport incentive is available for certain landlocked states, there is no proposal to provide the same to the state of Chhattisgarh.Capital procurement of defence equipment is carried out as per the extant Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP).
  • DPP-2016 focuses on institutionalizing, streamlining and simplifying defence procurement procedure to give boost to ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Government of India, by promoting indigenous design, development and manufacturing of defence equipment, platforms, systems and sub-systems. ▪Ministry of Defence is committed to the objectives of DPP-2016 and is taking all steps necessary to realize these objectives.
  • During the last three years and current year (upto October, 2018), out of total 188 contracts, 121 contracts have been signed with Indian vendors including DPSUs / PSUs / OFB and private vendors for capital procurement of defence equipment for Armed Forces such as Helicopters, Naval vessels, Radars, Ballistic Helmets, Artillery Guns, Simulators, Missiles, Bullet Proof Jackets, Electronic Fuzes and ammunition.

Currently, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has

  • firm orders to manufacture platforms like • Sukhoi Aircraft, • Light Combat Aircraft,
  • Dornier Aircraft, Advance Light Helicopter, Chetak and Cheetal Helicopter, which are likely to be executed in the next 3-4 years. There are 9 Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under the administrative control of Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence as per following details:
  • 1. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, HAL.
  • 2. Bharat Electronics Limited, BEL
  • 3. Bharat Earth Movers Limited, BEML.
  • 4  Bharat Dynamics Limited, BDL.
  • 5 Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited, GRSE
  • 6. Goa Shipyard Limited, GSL.
  • 7  Hindustan Shipyard Limited, HSL.
  • 8  Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, MIDHANI
  • 9  Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, MDL

Ministry of Defence Status

 Women in Armed Forces The induction of women is based on the organizational requirement, fighting efficiency, combat effectiveness and functionality of the Army.

  • Presently women along-with men candidates are recruited in Indian Army as Officers through Short Service Commission (SSC) on all India merit basis.
  • Women Officers are inducted in Army Service Corps, Army Ordnance Corps, Army Education Corps, Judge Advocate General Branch, Corps of Engineers, Corps of Signals, Intelligence Corps, Corps of Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, Army Aviation Corps and Corps of Army Air Defence.

Ministry of Labour & Employment Formulation of a new Labour Code The Ministry has prepared a Labour Code

  • on Industrial Relations, by simplifying, amalgamating and rationalizing the relevant provisions of the following three Labour Laws:-
  • 1.The Industrial Disputes Act, 1947,
  • 2.The Trade Unions Act, 1926,
  • 3.The Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946. The provisions of the draft Code have been discussed with stakeholders in various Tripartite Meetings and then finalized. At present, the Code is at pre-legislative Stage.

Ministry of Labour & Employment National Policy on Domestic Workers

  • No such data is maintained at the Central level. However as per the National Sample Survey(NSSO Statsitics-2011- 2012,68th round) according to which estimated
  • ▪ 39 lakhs people are employed as domestic workers by private households, of which .
  • ▪ 26 lakhs are female domestic workers.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment is considering to formulate a National Policy on Domestic Workers which is in the draft stage.

  • The salient features of the proposed draft National Policy on Domestic Workers are as under:-
  • (i) Inclusion of Domestic Workers in the existing legislations (ii) Domestic workers will have the right to register as unorganized workers. Such registration will facilitate their access to rights & benefits
  •  (iii) Right to form their own associations/unions
  •  (iv) Right to minimum wages, access to social security
  •  (v) Right to enhance their skills
  •  (vi) Protection of Domestic Workers from abuse and exploitation
  •  (vii)Domestic Workers to have access to courts, tribunals for grievance redressal
  •  (viii) Establishment of a mechanism for regulation of private placement agencies.
  •  (ix) Establishment of a grievance redressal system for domestic workers.
