Prime Minister’s Office

  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has extended his greetings on World Radio Day to all those associated with the world of radio, which includes those working in the industry and the listeners.
  • Theme: “Radio and Sports“ May this medium always remain a focal point of learning, discovering, entertaining and growing together.

Prime Minister’s Office –

  • It aims to promote the inseparable relationship between sports and gender, as well as how improved gender equality in sports broadcasting can lead to greater freedom of expression for all.
  • World Radio Day was proclaimed on 3rd November 2011 by UNESCO’s 36th General Conference.
  • The day was first celebrated in 2012.
  • It was subsequently adopted as an International Day by the United Nations General Assembly.
  • On this day every year, UNESCO celebrates World Radio Day by planning activities with  roadcasters, organizations and communities around the world

President’s Secretariat –

•‘LPG Panchayat’ today at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
• The LPG Panchayat was organised by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
• Aim: To provide a platform for LPG consumers to interact with each other, promote mutual learning and share experiences.
President’s Secretariat –

  • Each LPG Panchayat has about 100 LPG customers coming together, near their living areas,
    • to discuss safe and sustainable usage of LPG,
    • its benefits
    • the link between clean fuel for cooking and women’s empowerment
  • The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas intends to conduct 1 lakh such Panchayats across India before March 31, 2019

Vice President’s Secretariat

  • Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has asked officers and civil servants to come with out of the box ideas to ensure proper delivery of services.
  • Uplifting the poorest of the poor must be the priority
  • Vice President’s Secretariat –
  • Officers of all government departments to have a propoor, pro-rural, pro-weaker section approach in while implementing policies.
  • The governance systems must keep the people at the centre of their functioning, they must think in terms of delivery
  • The Vice President said that officials should be competent, creative and pro-active and they must encourage people’s participation in governance.
  • No Scheme can be successful without people’s participation, he added.
  • Every citizen must become an active contributor in nation building
  • We must now ensure that we deepen the roots and ensure that fruits of democratic governance reach all the people.
  • Learn from the best practices worldwide and apply it imaginatively to the Indian context

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change

  • Government is commitment for afforestation and increasing the green cover
  • Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that for a restructured
  • National Bamboo Mission, an outlay of Rs. 1290 crore has been made to promote bamboo sector in a holistic manner.
  • Government has also removed bamboo grown outside forest areas from the definition of trees.
  • Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change –
  • Rs. 160 crore have been earmarked for the Green India Mission (National Afforestation
  • Programme), which marks an increase of 48.8% over the previous allocation.
  • Green India Mission will contribute to the Nationally Determined Contribution for the period 2021-2030 to intensify the efforts for achieving our Nationally Contribution on Forestry to
  • sequester additional 2.5 to 3.0 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent in the forestry sector
    by the year 2030.

Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad

  • The Centre will set up at least one sanitary pad unit in each block of the country for better health and hygiene of women.
  • These units will be set up through Common Services Centers network and create employment for around 60 thousand women.
  • Mr. Prasad said, the government will also establish seven Centres of excellence across the country which will empower Digital India initiatives and promote new technology in different sectors.
