•Government is on the right track in enabling the consumers to harness the full benefits of digitization and putting in place adequate safeguards against risks associated with the electronic world.
•Digital literacy and financial literacy should go hand in hand so that in a cashless economy envisioned by the government, consumers are skilled enough to confidently use digital payments system and various financial products.

• Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that peace is required for sustained development.
• Tensions lead to disruption of attention towards development.
• Therefore, the new government in Nagaland has to address the unrest and tensions among certain groups in the state.

Department of Atomic Energy
• Presently, there are 22 Nuclear Power Plants in the country for generation of electricity.
• There are 4 research reactors working in India which are
1. Dhruva: “100 MW Research Reactor” for R&D, Radio Isotope and Radio Pharmaceutical Production.
2. Fast Breeder Test Reactor (FBTR): for carrying out studies related to stage II nuclear power programme.
3. Critical Facility: “100 W Research Reactor” for core physics experiments related to Advanced Heavy Water Reactors (AHWR) for stage III nuclear power programme.
4. Kalpakkam Mini Reactor (KAMINI): “Research Reactor” fuelled with Uranium-233 for core physics studies for the stage III nuclear power Programme.
Department of Atomic Energy –
• There has not been any nuclear accident in Indian Nuclear Power Reactors, so far, impacting environment in public domain or loss of life.
• There had been two instances of industrial accidents in the conventional working areas (non-nuclear) of the nuclear power plants or projects under construction resulting in two fatalities during the last three years.
Ministry of Commerce & Industry –
• Suresh Prabhu, today chaired a working group on making India a USD 5 trillion economy in 7 years.
• The meeting was attended by heads of CII, FICCI, IFC, NASSCOM, NitiAayog and senior officials from the Departments of Commerce and DIPP.
• The Minister said that India’s GDP could reach USD 5 trillion provided that there is consistent growth in manufacturing, services and agricultural sectors.
• The Minister underlined key role of the private sector to create new business models and strategies and leverage new technologies in order to fuel growth in the Indian economy. Government will act as the facilitator in this process.
Ministry of Commerce & Industry –
• The participants underlined the need to factor in technological disruptions, challenges due to climate change, positive use of India’s demographic dividend, conscious effort to make India’s manufacturing sector apart of global value chain and recognizing the importance of small and medium scale enterprises to fuel India’s growth story.
• Government of India has focused on 12 Champion Sectors to push growth in manufacturing and generate job opportunities in India.
• These sectors have potential to become global champions and drive double digit growth in manufacturing.
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
• Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has recently announced the launch of program ‘LaQshya’
• Aimed at improving quality of care in labour room and maternity Operation Theatre (OT).
• The Program will improve quality of care for pregnant women in labour room, maternity Operation Theatre and
Obstetrics Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and High Dependency Units (HDUs).
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare –
• The LaQshya program is being implemented at all Medical College Hospitals, District Hospitals and First Referral Unit (FRU), and Community Health Center (CHCs) and will benefit every pregnant woman and newborndelivering in public health institutions.
•‘LaQshya’ will reduce maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality, improve quality of care during delivery and immediate post-partum period and enhance satisfaction of beneficiaries and provide RespectfulMaternity Care (RMC) to all pregnant women attending public health facilities.
• The Program aims at implementing ‘fast-track’ interventions for achieving tangible results within 18 months.
•Under the initiative, a multi-pronged strategy has been adopted such as improving infrastructure up-gradation, ensuring availability of essential equipment, providing adequate human resources, capacity building of health care workers and improving quality processes in the labour room.

• The Quality Improvement in labour room and maternity OT will be assessed through NQAS (National Quality Assurance Standards).
• Every facility achieving 70% score on NQAS will be certified as LaQshya certified facility. Furthermore, branding of LaQshya certified facilities will be done as per the NQAS score.
• Facilities scoring more than 90%, 80% and 70% will be given Platinum, Gold and Silver badge accordingly.

• Facilities achieving NQAS certification, defined quality indicators and 80% satisfied beneficiaries will be provided incentive of Rs 6 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh for Medical College Hospital, District Hospital and FRUs respectively.
• India has come a long way in improving maternal survival as Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) has reduced from 301 maternal deaths in 2001-03 to 167 in year 2011-13, an impressive decline of 45% in a decade.
• India is further committed to ensuring safe motherhood to every pregnant woman in the country.
