➢ October 27 is celebrated as Infantry Day by the Indian Army in J&K as it was on this day that two Infantry companies of the first battalion of the Sikh regiment were airlifted from Delhi to Srinagar to liberate Kashmir from the Pakistani invaders(Kabailis) and regulars of the Pakistan Army.

IMNEX-2019 – India-Myanmar Naval Exercise Commenced in Visakhapatnam.
Sindhu Sudarshan – Indian Army to conduct exercise codenamed as ‘Sindhu Sudarshan’ in the deserts of Rajasthan from 29 November to 4 December 2019.
➢ More than 40,000 troops will be participating in an all-arms battle array of Divisions and Brigades carrying out oensive operations in deserts. The exercise will showcase a high degree of synergy between the Indian Army and Indian Air Force.
EX EASTERN BRIDGE-V – Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Royal Air Force Oman (RAFO) at Air Force Base Masirah in Oman. For the first time that the MiG-29 fighter aircraft participated in an international exercise outside India.
❖ Exercise ‘Shinyuu Maitri’ – The Indian Air Force and Japanese Air Self Defence Force (JASDF) was held at Air Force Station, Arjan Singh, Panagarh, West Bengal.

Malabar 2019 : The 23rd edition of the trilateral maritime exercise of India, Japan and the United States(US) named “Malabar 2019” exercise begun at Sasebo, Japan.

➢ When the ocer retires, the whole data will migrate from Oasis to Retired Ocers Digital Records Archive (RODRA). The RODRA holds the pension details of the ocers.

➢ Arjan Singh is an icon of Indian military history and the best remembered for providing excellent leadership to a young IAF during the 1965 war.
➢ He served as the Chief of Air Sta from August 1964 to July 1969. Even after retirement, he continued to serve in various positions including India’s Ambassador to several countries.
➢ Government of India designated him as the Marshal of the Air Force in January 2002. He remains the only ocer of the IAF to be given a Five-Star rank.
➢ The IAF celebrating its 87th anniversary on 8 Oct 2019. IAF was founded on October 8, 1932.

➢ He was killed by JKLF terrorists in 1990, has been added to the National War Memorial after it was approved by the Indian Air Force.
➢ Squadron Leader Khanna and three other IAF personnel were killed in January 1990 in Kashmir allegedly by JKLF founder Yasin Malik. Twenty-seven bullets were pumped into Khanna’s body. The trial against Malik had resumed last month in Jammu.
➢ An Air Force ocial said Khanna’s name was missed out in the National War Memorial and the mistake has now been rectified.
➢ The National War Memorial at the India Gate is dedicated to the defence personnel who laid down their lives for the country.
➢ The three armed services approve the names of the soldiers after which they are included in the National War Memorial.
